Is your skype working okay atm auditbabe ? I noticed you've not been around, but thought it was real life keeping you away. Lots of people have had problems with chat not loading though. I was just about to log off, but I'll pop back on skype first to see if I can get you privately on there though.0

Morning everyone!
Stressed - mine is a kenwood too, though it was only £27.99 (think it's quite small!) it was from my local co-op - I don't drive and only have a co-op and waitrose nearby, so I usually buy random things on impulse - must stop! I get my groceries delivered from Mr T or Mr A normally, though A have only started delivering to my area recently as the nearest one is 35+ miles away....
My little dd's first full day at big school today! I've decided as I desperately need to tackle the house I'm going to set myself a job each day - and todays job is the the kitchen, going to completely sort it out. need to defrost the freezer desperately - not entirely sure how to do this! (It's a big upright fridge/freezer? lol)
I'm also going to -gulp- sort the grocery cupboards out and write down everything we have. I have cupboards full of food but it's random odd bits and this really needs to be addressed and used up. Stuff like about 14 bags of strong bread flour!
Then (hopefully if that's done before I pick the kids up!) I will do an online shop this evening, so I was going to say I'm happy to try out any meals if wanted, as I'm not going to be doing a meal plan until I've used up random stuff I imagine0 -
Ok, Hev, I private skyped you now - you have been showing as offline of my skype for days though. Can you talk to other people on skype or is it just us you normally talk to ? Try signing out and quitting skype, then restarting, and then make sure your status is set online (you prolly know all that, but just running through what works for me when skype is playing up).
To all the newbies - the skype chat is not exclusive, and all are welcome - it's just there for ease and to keep the dross off the threadSo if you want to join, just PM me your skype ID and I'll add you in.

Weezl/Allegra could I just ask whether the planners - Kitty/Shirl or the impending Xmas one will only have one version of recipes? The reason why I ask is that I've been wanting to pitch in for a long time with a vegan version of 'toad in the hole' - not necessarily because it is vegan, but because it can be money saving - and also allows you to make a 'version' of TITH if you've run out of eggs. I was going to suggest it some time ago, because I read on Murrell's blog that she'd got the recipe book (which has the recipe in it) out of the library. I wondered if she thought it good then it might be worth putting forward - however, the timing was wrong as it coincided with her Dad's op and worries about her FIL. I also have an recipe for an eggless fruit cake (thinking xmas) that I spotted in Gill Holcombe's new book that I thought may help the planners. Or are too many versions going to be a testing nightmare?Pounds for Panes £7,305/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023

I think it is a grand idea for our standalone recipes, and your vegan TITH recipe would be great to know.
The issue with having different versions for the planners is that then not all the ingredients will be perfectly used up if you see what i mean, so it would constitute another planner. (which is not out of the question of course)
You've obviously been folowing a bit, and it's great that you've delurked, and I hope you'll share more ideas and recipes

Hey Weezl, thanks for that. I use the library internet (yay for public libraries!) so have not really had confidence to get too involved in posting because obviously time is limited on machines. However, I failed tp mention in my previous post that the reason why I'd made the two suggestions that I did was because I had seen similarities in the recipes with ingredients that were in the planners iyswim, therefore, there was potential (with tweaking) to make them. For instance, I might well have a go at making the fruit cake, but with Garam Masala to see how it turns out. However, the downside of an eggless fruit cake is 'keepability' - not a problem in a cake loving household I'm sure - but an economic consideration none the less. I wonder whether Murrell sees any mileage in the 'Sausage Bake' recipe in Leah Lenehman's book. I have adapted this recipe and made it several times with success - I'm not vegan, so use ordinary milk for example (shh don't tell Murrell!), and would be willing to see if it could not only be simplified but also frugalised to be in keeping with the spirit of the exercise.
I'm afraid I've 'lurked' from the start, and I am currently in my second month of feeding two of us for £50. I've been so inspired by your plans that i've developed my own meal plan - but I do have the advantage of a productive allotment to help out!
By the way, on the Julie & Julia vibe, those who have seen the film will know that Julie eventually goes to the Julia Childs exhibition at the Smithsonian to place a pat of butter in homage. I thought that the meet up at the IWM was to do the same for our dear old Mageruitte Patten!! (Just joking).
