do waffles made using a waffle iron taste any different to using the batter for say, pancakes. a la Allegra?
• I think there is a real difference, yes. I think it's because the heat is applied to all sides of the batter at the same time. Our kids like the home made ones better than the commercial ones, they freeze brilliantly and reheat effectively in the toaster, from frozen. I like to keep a bag in the freezer for breakfasts, quick snacks and desserts. Once the waffle iron is heated up, you may as well make a big batch.

• This weeks menu plan sort of worked!

WE have had so far Roast Chicken dinner, but with roast potatoes as none of kids keen to try the bubble and squeak. Also used a packet stuffing as I have no food processor and not enough bread! runner beans, french beans and marrow all from the garden! DD and ! had nut roast, it is very nommy, I also has it cold for luch the next day. Must get a smaller loaf tin though!

DD3 loves the breakfast pancakes, I cooked a half batch and had some left over, they are lovely reheated in the toaster. This will make life easier as I can cook up a batch and freeze and reheat them through the week.

Tonight we are having an indian feast. Weezels vegetable Korma (from a previous thread) with a sad chicken breast from the freezer thrown in to make DH/DS eat it, Saag Aloo (possibly Gobi Aloo Saag if any cauliflower left!) for Me/DD onion bahji and home made naan. Looking forward to that!

Still have plenty of supplies for the rest of the meals I planned but have had lots of pot luck suppers this week - open the pot and hopefully it's something you like!- as I turned the freezer out and one whole drawer is left overs. I need to clear these before I can do the next lot of meals because there will be more for the freezer.

The christmas meal plan looks lovely, I'm up for trying most of it

spaghetti aglio not sure what this is

Aglio e Olio is a traditional Italian pasta dish that can be made cheaply without seasonal or store-bought ingredients, said to originate traditionally from the isolated region of Abruzzo, although it is popular across the country.[1][2]
Usually served with spaghetti, the sauce is made by lightly sauteeing minced or pressed garlic in olive oil, sometimes with the addition of dried red chilli flakes. Finely chopped parsley can be added as a garnish, along with parmesan cheese[3].
• Good morning stressed.mum!

Thanks !!!!!! - it was that spaghetti word that confuddled me ;):rotfl:

The Indian feast was ok ish. Alot of work for not a lot of appriciation
The Korma was a bit too dry for my lot and Idecided against the chicken so there was a bit of mutany. The Aloo Saag was ok, need to adjust spices a bit, took forever to cook though. The Naan bread were lumps of pastry?? I have a recipe for the bread maker so will try that next time.

• Stressed Mum, I posted this link for Naan back in post 493. http://www.manjulaskitchen.com/2007/05/22/naan-bread/

I can vouch for their yumminess, you can use any yoghurt, even fruit. I will be making some tomorrow as we are having our new fave of vege indian feast too :-).

• Hi Wheezl

Thought I'd just say a long overdue hello - I've been very busy with work and family matters, plus I can eat even less of the current plan than the previous one so have not been able to test anything.

I just remembered that I once started an Italian recipe thread. Lots of folks added their own family recipes and quite a few could be frugalised, though many already are. Here's a link to my Spaghetti al Aglio recipe https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/454892 Hope it can be of use.

Site looks great - Just wish I could join in more as things are going to be very tight for me very soon.

xx
