  • Made the bean curry tonight, very yummy, used 2 tins of baked beans instead of kidney/canellini beans as I didn't have any, so simmered it a bit longer to reduce the amount of liquid.

Also thought it would be nice on toast.

Verdict on lemon cheesecake was good. Lemon could have been doing with being pulverised a bit more so will use hand blender next time. Ex enjoyed it as well (always a bonus) and we would both happily have it again. xx

I'm really looking forward to making this Shanks. I tried it at Weezl's at the weekend and it was lush. Really glad it well down well with you and the ex!

MDW, I absolutely LOVE the bean curry but with baked potatoes instead of rice. I use it now as a frugal chilli recipe and I even had it this evening, I think it's my favourite and most cooked CFR recipe. :)

apologies if this has already been picked up. I just clicked on what to buy on option 1 menu plan and it's not working only on option 2. Great meal plans, hoping to try some from next week. Keep up the good work x
  • I know weezl will be really grateful for the heads up on the broken link, she'll be around tomorrow and I'm sure it will be quickly sorted. When you do try the recipes, all of us on this thread loooooooooove pictures and feedback on them. There's also lots of experience here in cooking the recipes, so if you have any problems at all, shout out and someone will magically appear to help :D. We have enjoyed pretty much everything we have tried with a few recipes becoming regulars.

    Thank you! Fixed now :)

And as QOS rightly says, we'd love your feedback on how it's going, are you cooking for 4 like our mythical family or are there less/more of you?

I'll post feedback once I've cooked some. I'll be cooking for myself, a teenager and child, so there should be some left overs for another person in the week. I'm liking the sound of the brownies and cheescake and can't wait for these to arrive. My father makes cheescake using jam not sure how frugal that is and if it can be adapted. Will find out.
  • I think it's going to be Spanish Omlette tonight, I was planning on Pasta Alfredo but the bacon is in the freezer and I'm stuck under a sleeping 3yo.

I've just checked my tins and my square one is only 20cm/9" all my others are round, the smallest of which is 20cm/9" so lot bigger surface than a 25cm square one.
I do have a roasting tin/baking tray thats 25x20cm - could this work? I only have 3 eggs so can't increase quantities from the recipe.

ETA - I should point out its for the brownies
