RBS Branch Sale Announcement

I agree that 83-05-50 is not a normal Scottish branch, and maybe that is why I was told they could move the account to an English branch, having repaid the mortgage. Point taken about priorities, but they should have replied after over seven months, even to say that this was pending. I will follow up next week.--

There is some new information on the RBS/Nat West branch sale websites http://rbsbranchinformation.co.uk/home/personal
1, credit cards are now included in the sale and some will transfer to Santander
"If you have a current account, savings account, loan, mortgage credit or charge card attached to an RBS branch in England and Wales or NatWest branch in Scotland, your accounts and products are included in the sale and will transfer to Santander"
I wasn't aware that credit cards were attached to branches and I hold a current account at a branch that is being sold and at a branch which is not being sold

Q"I will have some accounts transferring to Santander and some accounts remaining with RBS - what can I do?
A.We want to make arrangements to meet your needs because we are committed to making this as easy as possible for you. If you have some accounts (including joint accounts or accounts with other named parties) transferring to Santander and some accounts remaining with RBS please call our dedicated Branch Sale Helpline on 0800 210 0214 so that we can help."
This seems to indicate that things are not going to be straightforward for those with some accounts transferring and some remaining

1, new telephone banking number and internet banking website "which you can use before, during and after the transfer completes" - so different RBS customers will be using different channels whilst still RBS customers (how does this affect those with accounts both at branches that are being sold and branches which are not being sold ?)
2,Debit cards – for debit card users, we will send you a new RBS debit card which will work before, during and after the transfer
3, apparently account holders who are transferring to Santander can see their new sort code now via internet banking (however I am unable to see a new sort code for the account I hold which is transferring)
I note that nobody on this forum with an RBS England/Wales account has reported that their sort code has changed (I am aware that those who transferred to a Scottish branch can see their new sort code)
perhaps this will happen after the weekend
So account holders transferring to Santander will have a new debit card and internet banking site at the end of the year / early next yearHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Relatively few RBS English branch customers will see any change to the Sort Code, because the RBS English branch sort codes were originally associated with Williams and Glyns bank so these sort codes can be used by Santander (Until Santander decide to mess around with their structure like they have done for old customers of Abbey, A&L, etc.)
Now that we know RBS have needed to set up new telephone banking numbers and a new online website for cutomers transferring to Santander, it explains why they have needed to do extensive maintenance on the computer systems so that the two groups of customer details can be split, one set remaining with RBS Group and the other set being pointed at the new access points in preparation for their move to Santander. Lets, hope they do not mix it up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. forget to mention.. the whole thing is a waste of space..what they should have done is create a state bank own by the state and tax payers..what is the point of selling RBS to the worse bank ever existed?0

It is only part of the RBS Group's branches that are being sold, all their Scottish RBS branches and all the English / Welsh NatWest branches remain part of the RBS Group.

I looked in the blurb but I cant see where it says that. I have changed my account holding branch from a branch that is to be sold to a branch that is not being sold and I can now see my new sort code and account number. Maybe someone is getting confused when they talk about being transfered...?
the source of that bit of information was a phone to the Branch Sale Helpline call rather than the website blurb (and my concern is that my Scottish Nat West 60 XX XX sort code remains the same on internet banking and I doubt that Santander will be keeping that sort code -( or indeed the 16 xx xx sort codes))Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Im still undecided whether to move my account to barclays or keep it at rbs or soon to be a santander branch, looking at my mums santander account its not very user friendly or not as easy to use compared with my rbs account.0
