The number I used is from the letter I received from RBS to let me know my transfer request was going ahead.

I've made a couple of credits to the old account details which arrived in the new account immediately, so hopefully all is working well.0

Just a word of caution for everyone who's bank account Direct Debits are in the process of being transferred to your new branch / account number.
It seems that Local Councils are not following the correct process and are actually cancelling the Direct Debit.
If you check your Direct Debits using Digital Banking, make sure that your Council Tax D/D is not showing a status of "Cancelled", if it is, contact the RBS Dedicated Helpline on 0800 096 3975 and they will look into it for you.
Trust the councils to screw up a simple process (other organisations seem to be able to do it correctly)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

We have an account at 83-05-50 which is a Current Account Mortgage. It has in fact been repaid early, and therefore is just a near-dormant current account with a large O/D limit still. I had been told verbally that they could change this to a normal current account at an English branch, which would then be affected by the branch sale.
RBS wrote months ago asking what we wanted to do about the CAM, having repaid the mortgage in full. I wrote asking to have a current account at 83-06-08 which is in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh. They have not replied, and this was sent in April.
I also enquired about moving some other business to them, including two trusts, and no reply to that either, so those are being moved to Metro Bank. (These were not already going to be affected by the branch sale).
I am still considering moving the (ex-mortgage) current account to an RBS Scottish branch, as we also have some other ex-A&L accounts at Satander which we plan to close.
I have no confidence in Satander since they killed the (postal) Giro Transfer system, which worked well for non-computer-literate and elderly customers.--

Since Sort Code 83-05-50 is not a normal branch and hence it is not going to be effected by the branch sale, RBS may not have assigned a high priority to your request simply because they are so busy trying to sort out all the account transfers for people who will be effected by the branch sale.
You could phone RBS to check if they have received your letter. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

As 830550 is a Scottish sortcode I don't think it'll even be affected.0
