RBS Branch Sale Announcement

Not sure if this was a typo but so funny and so true SATANder is about right.
Having worked for them and seen their legendary customer service from both sides of the counter I will have nothing more to do with them. Although they do have some good products, with them its all about increasing market share at any cost with very little thought given to customer service.
I have called my RBS branch and asked them for forms to transfer my account to Scotland. I have been with them since they were Williams and Glynn and I do not want to be told by the government who I should bank with
Not a typo, cant really call them (sh)abbey anymore. They ruined National + Provincial BS in the 90,s and I,ve had a healthy hatred for them ever since, had run in,s with them even when not a customer.
I might open 10 Scots Nat West accounts and 10 RBS English accounts and leave £1 in each to cost them the postage on statements every year.I have a deep burning indifference0 -

Not 100% accurate.
Only RBS branches in England and Wales are included in the sale, not those in Scotland.
NatWest branches in Scotland are included, not those in England and Wales.0 -
Our banks are mostly foreign even if you think they're English. They're PLCs. HSBC,Switzerland has Dignitasthe UK has DCA's, Bankers and Lawyers.0

is it possible to find out where the smallest rbs branch in scotland is? better still, what's the address of that mobile branch they show in the tv ad's? surely, if they can take a mobile branch to the far flung islands, then they could send one just down the M6 for me.
i want my willie glynns branch back but with access to it via the rbs online banking facility. it's not perfect, they stupidly don't allow users to send them a message when they are logged in therefore all personal details needed to be entered over an unsecured connection then they constantly harp on about security, but it's fairly functional, easy to use and doesn't require over-use of a card-reader. besides, rbs have a freepost address in edinburgh, i send all my mail there and let them sort it out (done in protest when they started to use regional centres and stopped me being able to put a face to the name on any letter i received).
i recommend my practices to the houseSwitzerland has Dignitasthe UK has DCA's, Bankers and Lawyers.0 -

Because its HQ is in London. The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation was found by a Scottish person. And back then, Hong Kong was a colony.
So yes, I can think it is 'British'. Perhaps not 'English', but that is what I quoted.
How can anyone think Standard Chartered is British (which they do) yet its operations in this country are tiny? Would be a similar situation.0 -

I dunno what the smallest is, but the branch in Scalloway in Shetland is only open for 2 hours a week on a Wednesday.
Just look how small it is: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ZE1+0TR&sll=60.38672,-1.208496&sspn=1.870325,5.817261&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Shetland,+Shetland+Islands+ZE1+0TR,+United+Kingdom&ll=60.13752,-1.277783&spn=0.007361,0.022724&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=60.13756,-1.277994&panoid=Nbtx5dfbjUMFOC8vpxhUkg&cbp=12,96.91,,0,5
Surely it'll be one of their smallest.0 -
Looks like Santander is trying to take over the world! I was with A&L now Santander, and I have a savings account with Natwest, so today, I applied to transfer my Santander account to Natwest, if you have an RBS account in England, Id do the same, just switch it to NatwestDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

who it was started by is irrelevant, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation was a huge worldwide bank that needed a new home before we handed our colony back to the Chinese. our government at the time, i guess chris patten would have been heavily involved in this, insisted that they moved their HQ to london as a condition of the purchase of the Midland - and it's branch network. it was a marriage of convenience. a formula one driver deciding to live in geneva this year and monaco the next when he gets the real big bucks driving for ferrarii.
as for Standard Chartered Bank, they have always been a UK bank - even though they only have a few branches here. but they are not "similar", i would be very surprised if Chartered would ever consider moving from it's UK home.
btw, i once worked for Chartered Bank.Switzerland has Dignitasthe UK has DCA's, Bankers and Lawyers.0
