Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for making marmite?? It's so pricey in the shops and we love it here!
THANKS!0 -
marmite is really a yeast extract - concentrate -
so I guess
1st find your local brewery,
gather yeast sludge from bottom of emptied beer fermenters
you may have to drink several hundred of litres of surplus beer to get to the leftover yeast
cook untill concentrated ????
spread on toast.....
( actually its probably possible to make without the beer - but less fun):rotfl:Fight Back - Be Happy0 -

I remember when I was living in Europe trying to buy yeast extract, as they didn't sell Marmite there. The yeast extract you could buy was nothing like the Marmite we know and love
, - just some sort of yeasty-smelling sludge!
So I wish you luck with your Marmite making. Let us know what it tastes like!0 -
ive merged this with a make your own marmite thread
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
