I love marmite. But I am quite happy to eat any of the own brand Yeast Extracts instead.

Once we had a German student staying with us, and I had some yeast extract from the health food shop which was in an ordinary jar, like a wide jam jar.... or a chocolate spread jar.
One morning there was this horrible scream - she had mistaken the yeast extract for chocolate spread, lavishly coated a slice of bread, taken one bite with the happy expectation of a mouthful of chocolate....
.... and got yeast extract instead!!!!!!
Germans don't like marmite.
Another small entertainment if you have amenable German friends, is to give them a salt and vinegar crisp to try.
Germans don't like salt & vinegar crisps.
(Although we do have one German friend who loves them, and always takes loads home with her! But she really is the exception to the rule!)
