Told your insurance company about the modification, have you?

Yes, they are fully informed as soon as I fitted them they were advised.
Hence why for me to insure a V6, fully comprehensive with no excess only costs me £210, which I am pretty pleased about after renewing my insurance last week :D
And for £210 for the next year I have full EU Roadside breakdown with recovery, a loan car within 24 hours of a accident too, not to mention a 24 hour claims line, however I've never been in any accident nor claimed, so doubt I need that ;)

Nice - you have a car many people will have a look at :)
My car is only returning 22-23 MPG if I am lucky, that's around town, jumps to 30 MPG roughly motorway driving.
However, I think the petrol going up is not helped as use to get a few more MPG around town.

    Oh that 22mpg was motorway!
I am wanting to changed the spark plugs and HT leads before winter, I don't think it's a really hard job, but have you ever seen the amount of bolts holding the manifold on top on with on the V6 I have? LOL - have a look in Google 2.5 V6 DuraTec engine.

I'm just nervous I won't get it back together right :rotfl:

That's just a plastic cover isn't it? I'd be tempted not to bother putting it back on to be honest :P

On mine you have to take off the massive J pipe that attaches to the throttle body, then remove that black plastic cover, then just to be even more annoying it uses coil on plug. Luckily the coils are on two rails so you can just remove them rather than removing each coil individually.

It is easy to do/get off, just wondering if after it is off, how easy to get back on it would be :rotfl:

have been told by Ford, the back row of sparks are the worse ones to get out, although I don't really let that put me off, as get a small enough ratchet then should be easy.

Would you like to undertake the changing of plugs on this for me?? ;)

just looked closer, think I'd rather change my spark plugs on my engine than yours, scary amount of stuff to move to get access !

mrbadexample my car windows have been tinted since I had them done two months after buying the car, 3 years ago.
I have not been stopped once and it has always passed a MOT test.

Not getting stopped doesn't make them legal. They're not part of the MOT test, so that's not relevant either.

I knew the legalities thank you. I was just making sure you did. ;) Lots of people apply tints to the front, but even a light tint normally takes it below the 70% mark. Wouldn't want you getting into any trouble. Likewise with the bumpers. :)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

The reason I did not get the front windows tinted after the B-post was because the car looks much better with just rear tints, and a completely back out look would suit me thinks.

I would not modify my car in anyway without declaring such, as I would not want to be out of pocket should and IF a claim arises.

Thank you for pointing it out to me however

Problem is that bit of plastic is easy peasy.

I need to remove the 6 bolts on the manifold top, and remove it to gain access to the plugs and leads as under the plastic is just a module and not the plugs and/or leads.

I know I get it off easy, just I hope I can get it back on which easy too, as I have been there, started a job that seemed so easy then finishing it seemed harder than when first started!

Well the cat was blocked, so I need to do a motorway run in it once the novelty has worn off..

These days I don't bother. I live down the road from a guy who specialises in performance Nissans and charges really good rates, ie. 20 quid to do oil/filter/plugs if you supply the parts, so I just get him to do it.

It's not that hard to get access. The J pipe is two jubilee clips to undo and it comes out. The other pipe you just pop it off at one end then rotate it 180 degrees, and that amplifier unit at the back with all the wires coming out is actually bolted to the black cover so when you remove the cover and lift it out the way that deals with the amplifier unit too.

What I really want, though it's very expensive, is to replace that inlet plenum with one where the pipe enters from the front of the car, rather than over the top of the engine. Then I can put a big silly front mount intercooler in there without having pipework going all over the place.

True, hope you are going to get more MPG after the test run :)

I would let my garage do it, but they say it'll be 4-5 hours work easy, £50 an hour, just to much when I could do it myself for just the parts, and don't even think of asking Ford, £600 including parts to changed plugs and leads

Nice, I know a few people who have put K&N filters on their cars, I personally don't like the looks of them, hence why I still have the factory fitted one.
Nice ideal you have with yours though, would look great :D
How much are you talking to get it done??

I'm not a fan of K&Ns as they are wet oiled filters and if you're not careful the oil can seep through and coat the sensor wire on your MAF sensor which will then never work right again. I'll eventually be going for the Apexi power intake.

As for getting it done. Well I've seen an Australian company that sells one. It's £545 and then the cost of shipping a huge chunk of cast iron from Australia.
