Even though you say your stuff is insured, you still have the inconvenience of having to call out and wait for someone to come and replace a broken window. And then submitting insurance claims etc.
Mine goes in the glove box, I don't bother taking it out of the car.
Touch woodI have never had my car broken into and it has been parked in some odd places you wouldn't dream walking through at night.
Being my windows are tinted and it's the safety film type, I am told the glass would not break into small bits.
May be it's just the fact I am too lazy to keep taking the SatNav out the car each time I lock it up, as my job requires me using it sometimes when I don't expect too.
The only time my car is left alone is at night, all day I am using it.0 -

LOL :rotfl:
Being the mileage I do I find it's worth the money, without one I'd be clocking 10-15 minutes off route, which after adding that up over a year would pay for the SatNav.
Think you can get one in Tesco for £80 at the moment, but of course, that is a cheaper make0 -

Perhaps I'd miss it, the long silences and then the well worn - if sheepishly delivered phrase - " I think we need to turn around" (I have a CD with the opening seconds of The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour for such moments if I'm feeling brave).0 -

Yes, it can be rather annoying when the SatNav says 'when possible make a U-turn'
However, nice choice of music0 -
This is why I like my factory fitted one.
No cr*ppy movement sensors, but if the window is broke, door/boot/bonnet opened it will go off, the same if anyone tries to mess a round with the electrics.
A proper made alarm without the silly fuss of having to have to shut it up every time a lorry/car/person goes to close or kids decide to set it off0 -

Tinted film does not make it any more difficult to break into your car and will not stop glass shattering. It will merely stick to the little bits of glass."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Easily recognise mine, its a Toad aftermarket system which paid for itself with the resulting reduction in insurance premiums.
It sends me a text if it goes off, has remote start feature which is great in winter.0 -
I think most car alarms are rather quiet (and no I'm not deaf) in that the sound doesn't travel well. The best alarms are the ones which give a good horn honk too. I know the sound of my car alarm as it's a Clifford with a range of weird sounds. It comes with 6 in total and I have disabled 3 of them by cutting the loops inside the siren.
I believe sirens are available (probably only from China/America) that let you record a short sound of your own - think max and paddy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTDDlWtnvSE0 -
Ford deadlocks, Not as secure as they make out. Its possible to open the passenger door.
Some standard car alarms only go off if a door, bonnet or boot is opened, On most cars with deadlocks
they will break a window and no alarm. Unless it has sensors, Lots do not.
Its usually easy to tell if it has sensors or not.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
