Your car alarm

My car alarm is connected to the horn, so when it goes off the horn goes off.
The horns on my car are after market air horns so are very very loud.
Regards window breakage sensors, I believe mine is fitted with these as when the window was open one time, I went the the glove box when the car was locked and the horns and lights activated0 -
I too went for the Toad AI606, had Cliffords in the past and have always had problems with them, especially that stupid proximity sensor that always fails and starts chirping constantly rather than how it's designed to operate which is to chirp every time a cat farts within a 50 yard radius.
Wouldn't know if it's mine or not simply because my GF has the same alarm, but as stated above any competent thief will have your car anyway, I mainly got it for the remote central locking and remote boot release because I'm lazy.
You're supposed to be able to program a second car into the keyfob too, but my fitter wasn't sure how to do this. Anyone know?0 -

My car already came with remote central locking and boot release
Nice alarm
I had a Cliffords alarm on a Honda Civic ESi Automatic I had a few years back, and as you say, the sensor on that failed and was a pain in the ar*e!0 -
I don't even know if our car has an alarm! It's a 1997 Mk 3 Golf if anyone knows?Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

Possibly, yes!
Depends on spec etc.
I had a MK2 Golf for a few years, was a good cheap car, had 180.000 miles on it.
I got rid of it because I prefer Fords and wanted something a little more luxury and for motorway use.
Only thing that went up with it before I got rid of it was the tappets started making a a noise!0 -
Windows breaking don't activate shock sensors. You either need some sort of interior sensor like a microwave proximity, or ultrasonic sensors - or a glass break sensor which detects the characteristic sound of glass breaking.
The main thing with car alarm installations is that the sensor is properly installed and adjusted, this obviously depends on the installer so if you can find someone with a good experience it is likely that installer is ok.0 -

And my dad's bigger than your dad
Seriously though, it's a 17 year old Japanese import*, since car crime is virtually none existent over there of course it doesn't come with an alarm. It does have electronic boot release though, which made the alarm fitting cheaper as he could just splice into the existing solenoid.
*well it's 17 years old in 5 days. You wouldn't think it though, apart from the reg0 -

LOL
Well that sure made the job a lot easier!
Years ago, I had a car that whenever it was left alone, the thing would go off, most nights I'd hear it going off, got so fed up with it I cut the leads to it, that was a Clifford alarm0 -

Just had a look at your car, it's tidy
Nice - I think I saw a post from you a while back saying you had it clay set?
I was thinking of taking my Mondeo to Newport for waxing, any advice??
When I bought a Honda Civic ESi ages ago, it was showroom condition, not a scratch on it, was on a L 1994 plate no dents or rust.
Two weeks round here, someone thought they would bang it and put a huge dent in the offside rear panel and it looked a complete mess - was £400 to put right so I left it!0 -

Sounds about right, my one that was set off by nearby cat farts was a Clifford, hated it. Funnily enough I saw the new "revision 2" of my alarm the other day, it's basically the same except as well as the flashing blue LED (which I hated and replaced with a dimmer purple one) it now has a 4"x1" blue electroluminescent stick in the windscreen that says "Dear car thieves I have a Clifford Concept 650 revision 2 fitted, so please be sure to plan your break in in advance after looking up the wiring diagrams on the internet". Awful alarms. Lots of nice fancy gadgetry but so unreliable.Just had a look at your car, it's tidy

To be honest if your Mondeo is a daily driver I wouldn't bother spending the money (cost me £285) on what I had done. That car is a weekend toy for me but if I was using it daily, taking it to Tesco etc. I'd be constantly worrying that someone was going to scuff a corner or open a door into it. In fact I had to lend it to my GF today to get to work as her car is in for an MOT and even though it's now home and she says it's fine I'm not home until Wednesday night and I'm worried about it.
I have a Mondeo to take all the day to day abuse of car park idiots and poor drivers!
If you really want it done, give the guy a ring, his website is ti22.co.uk and have a word with him, he knows his stuff.0
