Coupon-mad wrote:Taxiphil, I wonder if it is possible that the Store manager has been having a major discussion about you with Tesco HO? I wonder if HO tipped him off to have a look on MSE and find your posts, maybe they were discussing if you may have been trying to scam them (I am not saying you were at all BTW).
Reading between the lines I think this may have been what has happened, someone at HO may have looked up all the info they could find on you, including your Clubcard details, to try to get out of the R&R. When they could not find anything tangible they have obviously decided they have to give you the R&R but decided to try to intimidate you so you may be put off a hat-trick of xboxes?
If this has happened then HO have gone against the DPA, IMHO. If I were you I would call the Store manager and ask him how he knew your Clubcard balance, see what he says first.
I think you may well be right there. He alluded to the fact that he knew a fair bit of information about me. Because of what Constantine says it would seem likely that he'd been given this information from someone who does have the power to access my records at HO. Maybe he'd even been told to interview me about the matter and wasn't doing it through his own volition.
Funilly enough, he actually had "moneysavingexpert.com" written on his hand in biro, which makes me think someone had recently told him about this forum.
Oh well, there's a simple solution. I just won't use my Clubcard on future R+Rs, and I'll pay with bank notes.
They can put that in their pipe and smoke it.0 -
Hi Johnny,
There is a Tesco misprice discussion area here, and if you read the first post on there it will give you some vital information you need. This probably wasn't the best place to ask as this is the "grabbit" board for bargains that are found, but not to worry, you will know for next time:)
No need to worry about the actual policy, it is in place in every Tesco store in the country (including Metros I believe). As for spotting them, well it is often a case of just looking very hard, comparing SELs (shelf edge labels) with stickers on the items, and using the in store price checker to see if it scans for a higher price than that is advertised. Also checking these forums will help too! - Take a look at the misprices thread here.
So there you go, hopefully you are now ready to go and raid your Huddersfield store and lose your R&R virginity!
Good luck! The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -

Just done a long answer to you on the Tesco codes discussion thread... post 663...

:grinheart Someone please post something there as it looks like I'm bulk posting on that thread by myself at the moment.... :iloveyou:Hello :j  :j0 -
Hi- I think you really need to go onto this thread and read the first posthttp://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=261039&page=9
and also the first post on the misprices thread too which explains a lot. As tesco stuff is a hot topic all the discussion around it is kept on these threads.
You will know an item is mispriced only when you have paid for it and realise the shelf label, or a sticker on it was less than you have been charged. In that case you can take it to the customer service desk and tell them- they should then apply Tesco's national policy of refunding the item while you also retain it.
Of course reading the threads will give you ideas of things that may be wrong. There is also sometimes an option of scaning the stuff on a price checker and hey dude has posted some helpful stuff about that on the discussion thread recently.
It is possible that people may not wish to comment on your specific store as they don't really want to reveal the Tesco's they frequent in this forum as lots of different people read it...not just moneysavers..:p
Good luck- forgive me mods for answering a bit in this I hope I have pointed you in the right direction where there are some very knowledgeable people.0 -
Taxiphil if I was you I'd change your user name. if the store manager does know what you're saying on here it could make it more difficult for you in the future getting an R & R. If the manager is reading everyone's comments regarding your concerns he's going to have all his excuses ready.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0

Unfortunately there is no short cut to this other than doing your homework. If you read all the mis price discussion pages it will give you a good idea of what to do and the answers to give when you find an over price ( and yes I know there are a lot of thread sto read).
If you then read the mis price only thread it will give you an idea of what other people are finding this week. Each store is different so if you don't succeed just keep trying each time you go in.
Once you have spotted your first couple of mis prices you'll find them quite easily. Good LuckLook after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
Taxiphil if I was you I'd change your user name.
I agree with that as well Joto, it happened to one of the TLF (Tesco loyalty forum) members before, and her local till supervisor knew everything she had posted!!!Hello :j  :j0 -
If you change your user name the manager may still be able to find out the new name if he has some knowledge of forum boards
If i were you I would create a new identity on here so you'd have no previous postings which lead the nosey parker to your new name.
Surely its not right that a manager at Tesco can use knowledge gained outside work for making his decisions during office time (thats unless his abusing the companies internet policy by logging on here when he is meant to be managing his store)Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

Your last point is not possible.
I use knowledge from outside work all the time. I'm pretty sure anyone with a job does the sameWho or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
From what taxiphil said about the Manager having 'moneysavingexpert.com' written on his hand, it seems obvious that the info about the site came from HO. I felt that this was the case, I used to be a (Bank) callcentre/HO Manager and such in-depth 'digging' for customer info (where any kind of scam is suspected) is rarely, if ever, initiated at branch level.
When else do you write things on your hand other than when you are told something on the telephone and have no paper handy? The Manager was just acting as a HO puppet, trying to intimidate taxiphil.
BTW, back on topic, I got my first Tesco Express R&R today, couldn't resist it as they had several out of date SELS. One offer worked  , but managed to R&R some cakes for the kids. Hilarious acting by the cashier, 'full refund? what sign? what price promise?' as if he had never seen the sign right next to him before. Made a change from the CS desk at my local larger Tescos where they usually play ball straight away!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
