Absolute gobsh*te the offer is for the package, the discount only applies when the purchases are combined thus price relates to the combined package not either one of the items purchased.

Thanks for your reply that what i thought, surely they dont have a leg to stand on, is there someone in particular to speak to at head office regarding this, should i send an email first before i ring in the morning?
    Every little helps....

  • Taxiphil - If Head Office have had to order the store to give you a refund then surely you have had to give HO some info on who you are...?

Constantine - If they then told the store that Mr ??? from xxxx, is coming into the store, would the manager then be able to use that info to get the details on his pc (?) for Taxiphil clubcard, which may have had the info on other x box refund etc in the purchasing history.

I find this quite worrying myself.
    Hello :j  :j
  • Any manager that wishes can look at my clubcard points, personally I couldn't care less.

If I ever got questioned "How did you get so many points?" I would just reply the same way as you should have...
"How did you get your job?"

Yes, HO had all my details. So did the store, as I gave them my name and address when the incident occurred. But the question is who found out my Clubcard balance, and was the manager within his rights to question me about it?

    No. Pure fantasy.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure
  • also.. i dont know maybe constantine can put me straight on this one... but when i returned an electrical item and she was tapping somethings into the till.. with details from my reciept ( which i did use my club card ) she asked if i could just confirm my name and address.....

so do they.... or could they ... bring up personal details on the till by tapping in clubcard no.. from your receipt..?

    What was the electrical item?

  • No offence meant Constantine I am sorry, I was just trying to pick your brain for info.

Another thought Taxiphil, but this idea is deeper into fantasyland, did you use your clubcard when you bought the xbox? I'm just trying to figure out how someone could get your clubcard number, etc, so I am not actually saying the manager did any of the things I am suggesting.

If you kicked up enough stink, maybe they recorded which till you used, do the modern tills not keep a copy of all the transactions that go through them, like the extra till rolls for the shop that we used to have before Epos???

If I knew someones postcode and had a till reciept or log roll info, that had their clubcard number on, theres only one digit missing. Thats only 10 tries before someone could access your online clubcard balance from the Tesco website. I wouldn't do that myself of course, but I do believe that it would be very easy to do.

Nope, doesn't work like that. The manager is not able to access any information on customers' personal details or clubcard details via his PC. In fact, the CC database is on a completely different system, which cannot be accessed by the stores. This also includes look up purchases made in other stores - simply not possible.

You're in Narnia, mate! ;) As stated previously, stores cannot access the CC database. This means they do not have access to any personal details held on anyone who has a clubcard. Also, you're forgetting that Tesco.com uses password protection. You need the password and email address to access the clubcard account in order to see the balance (assuming that card has been registered with Tesco.com).

Can someone explain what is meant by "Risk raising your profile". I would like to know as I had exactly the same thing happen to me today and to say I was not impressed is an unserstatment. Is there a down side to having a raised profile?
If you annoy them enough by persistent R&Ring they will try to take your Clubcard off you and almost certainly ban you from their store.

In an earlier post I did suggest that when purposely setting out to get a high value R&R you might want to not use your Clubcard for just the reason being discussed above - to stop them tracking you down.
