I use knowledge from outside work all the time. I'm pretty sure anyone with a job does the same
Say for instance mr manager was using the internet to look at MSE during worktime (think Phil said he had a print-out of forum postings which sounds as if he could have been), would that be against Tescos policy of internet usage at work?Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

Possibly, but as it is not possible the Tesco policy on internet usage at work is not relevant.
I could not connect to this forum or any other from work even if I wanted to. No one can. At all. Ever.
I see all these posts about people goofing off and browsing forums in work time and can only dream :rolleyes:Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Had this imagine of managers on here checking what us naughty customers were trying to get away with in their comfy offices, rushing about in a blind panic as somone gets a chicken on R and R.
Phoning down to the CS desk to get those damn SELs sorted before the hoards of MSE-ers descend on the store.Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

If they are, they are not using work equipment to do it. And frankly, have far more important things to doWho or what was I before you came in to my life

I've had that kind of reaction so many times that I just treat it as pure pantomime now. I had it the other night on a small R+R, and I knew full well the lady on the CS desk had been working there for decades as she used to serve my mother in the same store in the 1970s. Her look and tone of voice implied she'd never heard of the policy in her life when I pointed at the sign.0 -

Just a shame that checking their store for out-of-date posters isn't one of them.0 -

Raising your profile in a store isnt really a good idea. take the current discusion taxiphil is having where the manager and head office are aware he is an MSE member they now know about him and his activities in this Tesco store. It has been know for tesco managers to ban people from stores due to the manager knowing taxiphill he could take the desision to ban him from that store reducing his r+r possibilities slightly.
It is always better to live to fight another day who knows it may be somthing big the next time and if the manager has seen you before he/she may remember you from the last time and make life difficult for you and force you to go the route some people have reciently over the xbox 360's.
It isnt a good feeling to have tesco security and other staff follow you round a store, it can be fun to walk round in circles and randomly pick stuff up and take them to the scanners then return to the section and see staff furiously checking the prices on the items. LOL.
stay below the radar and they wont notice you and give you r+r's with very little problem if it is an r+r.0 -

I must say it all sounds like a conspiracy to me. It looks as though the Store Manager concerned is a descndent of the Meruvingian dynasty and, as such, is allowed to operate outside of normal Tesco policy by the Priory of Sion.
Taxiphil has been unfortunate enough to have had the built-in tracking circuitry on his Clubcard activated which means they will not only know which store he is in, but which aisle is being scanned for potential misprices.
In such cases calls to HO are pointless as they will automatically be diverted to the special branch of the CIA which was set up in secret by the Bush Administration to deal with counter-R&R activities. You can't walk through Cheshunt these days without encountering a few Men in Black.
The only way to the truth is via the "Board". They inhabit a spaceship currently in orbit around Mars (where the latest Tesco.com distribution depot is under construction) and can only be reached by means of special communicatiors. These are present in most stores but, sadly, often mistaken for broken price scanners. Can I help?0
