Our 1st 1 arrived but was faulty so returned it new moniter arrived 1 week later . Had it about a month now and our electric use is down , more things are being turned off instead of stand by ,reduce temperature in washing machine and ive started to charge phone in car . Although these savings are minor over the year they might save a small amount of money . I know i should have been doing these things anyway but the moniter has shown me the cost .0

I appreciate the monitor was a 'free' gift, but the software is just not fit for purpose. I have tried all Eon support staffs suggestions but I am still unable to get the monitor to talk to my PCs .
I've attempted using XP, Vista & W7 but it just will not work.
I am now waiting for the latest software CD - (for several weeks now), I don't think it exists! I have now lost interest in this concept and the monitor is getting ever closer to the bin.0 -
the software isnt the best - but it seems to work fine on my Windows 7 64bit machine!
I see in the software that its able to read the energy now in real time.... I would be very interested in this realtime data could be intercepted by another application or stored in the DB for deeper analysis (its good having per hour results - but I would really like "as it happens" results!)0 -
Hi, just got my energyfit yesterday and set it up this morning but I'm not sure if it is working right. The readings give a sensible 300watts with just the usual Telly etc on standby and the laptop plugged in (goes up to 3.5KW with kettle) but it isn't stable. It reads 300(ish) for a couple of seconds then says 0 for a couple of secs and then back to 300. The Up/Down bit is having a hissy fit!
Is this normal behaviour?0 -
mine does not do that - the value goes up and down even with nothing turning on/off... but not to 0
have you tried one of the other feed cables on the meter?0 -
I thought I will give my experience so far...
My parents got one a couple of weeks ago. At first seemed fine then pressed the wrong button to change the time and it got 'confused'. I was told to reset which I tried to do, but usage keeps coming under appliance 1. Eon told me that I am holding the monitor button too long, but no matter how quickly I release it stays on appliance 1. Will try and ring them again to see what they say.
In regards to my monitor just doesn't pick up the electricity (just has dashes). Yet to call eon to see what they suggest.
They seem really useful if I could just get them to work :rotfl:0 -

Appliance 1 ???
Are you talking about the EON power monitor here?
There is no measuring of appliances - just the total electricity used in the house.0 -

Hi gill_hc
I'm no expert on these monitors but it sounds as though yours is ok.
They do surge when appliances like kettles are put on and then return to something like the previous reading when the appliance is switched off.
Sometimes they will fluctuate for a few seconds before levelling out again.
Another thing to be aware of is if you have fridges or freezers. They sometimes kick in when they need to adjust the temperature. This will show on the monitor when perhaps you are not expecting it.
As I say, though, I'm no expert and if you are at all concerned please call the helpline number noted in the instruction sheet. Our agents will be happy to speak to you.

Hi roms
I've heard of monitors displaying only dashes before. What usually sorts this out is re-connecting the sensor jaw to the meter cable.
You're doing the right thing in talking to our helpline, though. If the above doesn't sort the problem, I'm sure they will be able to advise further.

Malc,
Do you or your team have any suggestions as to why the Eon meter/software would show a spike at 4am that is five times bigger than more normal usage as per this thread?
