I have a Bank of Cyprus UK Visa Debit card, the numbers being 4751 46. According to the Wiki list (which I appreciate is incomplete) this is an RBS card? :-/

It doesn't say its an RBS card. The card is unlisted.

Its the full 6 numbers make it unique, even if it shares the first 4 with another provider.

    For example

HSBC, Barclays, Coventry all have cards starting 4659, but the next two are all different.

    Ah! My mistake :o!
    Thanks!
My Barclays Visa Debit is 4659 22 :)

Also there used to be an association between the card number and if the card needed authorisation, this is still true of RBS who are happy to let you know. But there is no reason Bank A could not issue 2 cards both beginning 4123 44 and one always requires full authorisation and the other can be used "offline". It is an number embedded in the chip that is the issue not the card number these days.

Ulsterbank have the same number for both types of cards 4751 11

you can easily tell the difference because the cards are a slightly different colour and its written on the front of the card:D
