To those of you still waiting to hear, some bad news from the CAA today. They have taken the decision not to pay a substantial number of claims where the travel agent had not passed on the invoice from Goldtrail to the customer. One company in particular, On the Beach, has been quoted as one of the agents involved, but they are blaming customers for not completing the claim forms correctly! If you didn't know anything about Goldtrail before it failed, you should seriously consider putting pressure on your agent now to see if they have received a letter warning them that claims will not be paid and if so, demand a refund from them now. The best of luck!
  • Hi Alan,

We booked our holiday through onthebeach.co.uk & we received an email on the 14-09-2010 saying that on the beach have forwarded our claims form onto the CAA.
Do I still need to phone on the beach in my case?

    Thanks

I would wait a few weeks, why on earth has it taken them 2 months to send your form in? There are over 100,000 claims lodged already so it may be a long time before yours gets actioned. Unless you were slow in returning the documenation, the question to ask OTB is why didn't you send it in sooner?

I sent Qwerty travel my CAA claim form at the end of July.. they emailed me mid september saying they had sent the form to the CAA, then a week later the CAA wrote to say they`d received it.

    6 bloomin weeks !
  • Sent in claim form to CAA because of Goldtrail at the beginning of August and received a reply a week later to say the have received but heard nothing since. Has anyone received any payout yet from them? how long will it take? Even our credit card company has asked for an update. Would have preferred to have claimed against them as wouldn't have taken this long. Come on Martin step in and speed things up with them their scared of you !!. :money:

I've twice asked Bookable Holidays for an immediate refund as advised by Consumer Direct. There was no mention of Goldtrail on my booking paperwork. Bookable are still trying to fob me off with thier "Claim Form" for which there is a £40 per person charge. :wall:
I've now forwarded the complaint to ABTA - will let folk know how I get on.
  • I have just spoke with Bookable Holidays, I sent back my claim form for when our honeymoon collapsed at the start of August. They have recieved our claim form, and they have said that it is in the queue and that they're trying to get everyone their money back in a shorter time than what they have said the longest wait could be (8-12 months).

The woman on the phone told me that they're all up to date on processing the claims and that it's all down to the Insurance companies now.

Just to let you know incase you're wondering what the chuff is going on too!!!

Why not ask Bookable which insurance company they are using, no insurer takes 8-12 months to pay valid claims, even the CAA are faster than this and Bookable were claiming their insurance policy was better than the CAA!
  • hi

In my case i booked a holiday to go to greece and a week before the holiday kiss flights went bust and so i could not go. i also recieved the letter from bookable informing me that i would get my money back minus admin charge £40 per person. there were 2 of us booked so that was £80 in my case. instead of filling in the claim form (which when signed agrees to this charge being taken) i wrote to bookable and demanded a refund within 14 days. they wrote saying that this was not an option i would have to fill in the form loose £80 and wait at least 9 months for the money. i instead took out a court summons and on receiving this summons bookable refunded my money in full and covered my court charges as well. this is the only option for getting your money back. the admin charge and length of settlement are unjustifiable and they know this and they are not willing to fight it in court.
  • Wow, well done!

Now for the rest of us: HAS ANYONE BEEN PAID FOR THEIR GOLDTRAIL LOSS YET???

    I'm still waiting....
