Scottishchick, they should refund the ENTIRE AMOUNT SHOWN ON THE GOLDTRAIL INVOICE, with the only exception of travel insurance.

Did you book flight only with goldtrail? if so, then chances are that the flights were NETT to OTB, and therefore they added a booking fee when they sold them to you (you may or may not have been made aware of that). if this is the case, then the CAA are not going to refund you that - as they only cover the cost that show on the ATOL invoice (ie the one from Goldtrail). However i would certainly get onto them and enquire about these 'flight extras' that they are not going to refund, as if they are showing on the invoice, then thay should be covered!

  • Sorry to jump in but On The Beach have just done exactly the same to me! I was searching around the forums and found this post.

Having just received a refund from the CAA for a Kiss flight which does include the baggage charge this was a little bit of a shock. I have asked On The Beach (via the online "manage your booking" system they have). The reply I got...

    "Hello
With Goldtrail any in flight extras such as baggage are non refundable unfortunately.
    Kind Regards
    Mike O'Neill
    Claims Manager"

Which isn't terribly helpful. I don't know about anyone else, but our baggage charges ended up at £60.....which is a tidy sum for the On The Beach to hold back!
  • Has anyone received a refund yet?
  • I booked with Holidaymate due to travel August 2010 claims form submitted end of July 2010 no reply as yet. Has anyone else received a payment yet?

All these companies are using the excuse period of one year for settlement. Of course, if they themselves collapse in the meantime we are all stuffed.

    Still no refund for me!!
  • Some good news....finally.

Received a letter today from the CAA advising a refund will be made to my designated bank account within 14 days in respect of the Goldtrail claim.

The amount quoted for the refund is correct (for me) and no deductions have been made. My booking was through Travel republic.

There is light at the end of the tunnel people......

After months of emailing and telephone calls to Airborn Direct and the CAA I have finally been told today that Airborn Direct have sent all the claim forms off to the CAA for processing. Hurraahh!!!

I have emailed the CAA today too to ask them what the situation is with regard to claims made via Airborn Direct. I hope they confirm that they are in receipt of my claim form - we really need our money back!

Good luck to all those in a similar situation and again thank you for giving us hope mecrazybenz. :T

That says to me that the Travel company waited for all forms to be correct before sending ALL forms together to the CAA. IF so, that might be why it takes so flaming long!
