    Hello Everyone,

Can I join in this thread? I am going out on the first session of my walk/run programme tonight and am looking for a bit of motivation to help me keep it up.

This is the 3rd beginners programme i have started this year, and I always seem to struggle to make it a habit until i slip into just not going anymore.

I did a 5k race for life at the beginning of this month in 37:30, so I am aiming to set mini goals of doing my local parkrun every 6 weeks to monitor progress.

Tonight is run 2 mins, walk 4 mins - 4 times.

    Nic x

    Hope you're feeling better LittleMissHappy.

My back was really achy at work today. Went for half an hours walk at lunchtime and that seemed to help a bit so went for my run after work.
I have to say I struggled a bit. It was my short easy run today before vb training so just 3.6miles. Just checked temperature and humidity though and they might have a little part to play, 19degrees and 72% humidity. It's ok though, I did my run and am a step closer to my goals. I might take a little longer to get up to 20miles a week though, I'm totally playing it by how I feel and I don't want to rush. I have a 5miler planned for this week but 6miles might have to wait another 3 weeks. See how it goes.

    Happy running everyone.

Hi guys - have been awol for a couple of weeks as I have a blocked ear which is not conducive to comfortable running :(

I feel good in myself, though, so decided to give myself a bit of a slap today and get back to do something....the weight has just started to creep up a little (lost 2.5 stone last year, and don't really want to be back up there again) and I didn't want to fall into the old excuses trap that is so easily there.....

so, today I did an hour on my treadmill - power walking on an incline. Certainly worked up a sweat and I can certainly feel it in my thighs.

If the ear is no worse tomorrow, I may head out in the evening for a slow run with runchum.....otherwise, I will do another treadmill session instead.

One thing is for sure, I like being slimmer. Another thing is that I have committed to doing the Brighton Marathon in April, and of course I don't want to have to carry the extra weight around 26 miles!!

Happy running to you all - oldies and newbies :j

Good! And I have entered the first ever Liverpool marathon - October 9. Started training - but it is very hot here and I can really do with losing about 10 kg.

Pleased to report that the ear is pretty much unblocked now so I headed out this evening for a hard, and pretty fast 65 minutes. I say it was fast but I didn't have a watch or garmin on, so don't really know, but it is a route I regularly do, and it certainly felt that way.

I think the threat of the thunderstorm that has since arrived spurred me on somewhat!

I've been awol 2 for a couple of weeks - one on holiday with lots of hard work walking which messed my feet up so have been resting them for a few days

Planning on going out tomorrow as I can feel myself getting wider and wobblier and I could do with losing about 14lbs or so - if only I could!

Once I get back out again I'll be aiming to increase the distance back up to 6 miles again and then increase again by the end of the summer

I DID make it out this morning in the early morning sun at 6am! So pleased I went as I feel so much better for it. Just a gentle 5K this morning and will be increasing up the distance a bit this weekend

Got a flyer today about a local charity walk from between 5miles and 20miles which I'm thinking about doing as I can easily walk 20miles round here. Something nice to do later in the year

Well done!! Take it steady, build up bit by bit and don't be too ambitious too soon.

    And enjoy :D

Thanks! I'll be slowly building back up to 10k over the next 2 months to get back to 60mins of running none stop the onto my dream of running for longer! Will reassess by the end of August for the next training plan segment. I will get there again! Its taken me longer than I thought it would with muscle problems but now they're sorted out once my feet heal a bit more from all that walking last week
