*sneaks in!* Yes I am still alive believe it or not! I cant believe this thread is still going! Its lasted longer than me I'm afraid!
I spend a lot of 2012 injured with a recurring injury where the achilles tendon meets the calf muscle. Consequently I deferred my places in both the Leeds and Edinburgh Half Marathons. I decided to plod around the Great North Run with absolutely no time in mind and I managed not to walk until 18.5k in when my injury reared its head again but with only 2.5k to go there was no way I wasn't going to finish so I hobbled to the end and finished in under 3 hours which I was pleased with.
So - 2013 - and over a stone in weight put on as my appetite didn't decrease with my non running :rotfl:I'm slowly getting back into it but my times have gone way backwards although Im trying not to worry about it which is easier said than done:o :o I've entered this years Edinburgh Half Marathon again so Ive got a goal to aim for

hello bagpuss! Good luck with your training plans.

As for me, I managed at last to get out and run 10k - bit of a rubbish time as I'm still building fitness and stamina back up again - 56mins - at least I went and ran 10k as I think it was October the last time I ran that far so not too bad today. Tired now though!

Well done sparkles! I really don't think I could manage 10k at the moment and if I could, it would be over an hour...Slowly trying to build stamina but just taking it easy atm.

Did a 5k on Friday at lunch time, took me 33mins!!!! Then Saturday we did a 11mi hill walk. Yesterday I ran with another work mate who is much quicker and we set off quite quickly, when I looked at my watch, we were running 8:30 pace! No wonder I started feeling it in the second mile but average was still 9:58m/m. So I can still run quicker, but not very long!

    Hey,where's everyone gone again?

Couple of more lunch time runs for me, 2.7mi on Friday and 2.8mi on Monday. Trying to keep up with 2 runs a week for now as weekends are too busy atm. Not going for a run today as legs are smashed from running, volleyball and having to cycle to work all this week. Friday again...

  • Hi, I just found this thread after reading Martin's article on cheap gyms. I have been thinking about getting into running for ages but never quite made that first step.

I am a member of a local gym and tend to use the pool to 'pool run'. However, I am looking to cancel this membership and get into doing free exercise. I am hoping this thread will give me the motivation to get started and continue.

I am off to read the thread in detail for some inspiration.
