So here we are again at the start of the DFW running club part 5!!! so far we have had marathons run, 5k's 10k's half marathons and all sorts of fun and games! we have been novices, we have been extremely technical runners, but one thing i for one want to keep hold of is the fun!! after all, theres no motivation to get out there if it isnt fun right?? so flop yourselves down on the comfy sofa, grab a cuppa and share your running stories!! but not for too long, theres miles to cover you know!!:D:D
I will get someone more knowledgeable than me to put up linkys to the other 4 parts and start below with a copy of the original part 1 post.:beer:
Hi one and all!!
At the request of several members here on the DFW board, I have pleasure in starting the Debt Free Wannabe Running Club! The idea being that we all have goals we wish to reach, some being financial, others being weight loss, getting fit etc.
So heres the place to get the motivation to do it!!:j
Firstly, Let us know what your goal is, Ie running a half marathon, being able to run for half hour without stopping, doing 30 sit ups etc then we can share progress reports, any training hints and tips and generally get a kick up the proverbial to get off the sofa and go do it!!!:rotfl:
(goodness knows i need a boot right now so could be accused of being slightly self indulgent with the thread!:T )
If there are enough people we could even do an evening or a sunday run.
We all know Gyms are/can be Mega expensive so here's the cheaper option and you'll get loads of support from us all.
So who's in?!
Have fun

I'm in as I discover my love of running again that I hid away for 7years forgetting how much I enjoyed it. So here I am training on the C25K and enjoying it immensely even when it is hard work. Week 3 halfway through
Anyway just c+p my last post from the previous thread
Just thinking about some new running trainers - I have a pair of asics currently which must be at least 8yrs old. They fit really well for running and am thinking of replacing them with a pair of Asics Cumulus 11 or 12
Any thoughts?
Or would a pair of Asics gel blackhawk 3 do the job as well?
I just fancy a newer pair which are maybe a bit more cushioned as this pair has had some hammer from when I ran before, my feet naturally roll outwards and apparently the cumulus support this areafinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Right! And herein lies my problem..... I don't enjoy itits a necessity for me (keep the pounds off). I DO get a sense of achievement when I get a pb, or the other week when I did my first 10k, but its not fun.
Where am I going wrong?Firstly, Let us know what your goal is, Ie running a half marathon, being able to run for half hour without stopping, doing 30 sit ups etc then we can share progress reports, any training hints and tips and generally get a kick up the proverbial to get off the sofa and go do it!!!:rotfl:

any mileage is better than no mileage!!! well, i stepped out the front door, got picked up by a gust of wind and dropped 100 yards down the road (well ok, over exageration but you get my point!) so came back indoors and am heading for a treadmill instead!!!! good luck to any midlanders heading out in this!! whoooosh!!debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Hello,
Resting runner at the moment due to shin splints
Started with C25K in January, ran 3 miles for Sport Relief in end of March, got the bug and trained for 10k in the end of May (01.10.47) and on w/c 26/7 should start training for Cardiff Half (14/10) if my shin allows me.
Did again today half an hour exercise bike at the gym. Shin felt good all day except now towards the evening slight niggle. I am thinking that on Monday I shall try the x-trainer and see if that aggravates it, if not I might be able to start my training programme on time.
Sorry Sparkles - I can't help you with the trainers question, I have quite basic Nikes and they feel good to me. I would like to have a pair of racing flats (and pair of trail shoes if I manage to find the time to get to orienteering) but finances are not allowing that at the moment."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
