I too, am thinking about half IM. Which one are you going for? Are you on TW?

Sorry what is TW? Hope its not a stupid question!

I dont know yet which one - going to keep the swimming up and then look early next year at whether I could it or not.

There is a 60 mile bike ride in the lakes at the end of november - looking at that to get the distance for the bike.

The run is ok (hopefully) just what the old legs feel like after the bike!

Well done on being debt free - I did the same in October (apart from the massive mortgage)

Where did we all go eh? Did we stop this free exercise malarky?
Are any of us still out there running?

I've been MIA after being struck down by a nasty virus for 2mths and this sidelined all my exercise as a result. I've been building back up slowly by using Shred for a few weeks and after getting Extreme Shed and Shred for Christmas thought if I can do that I'd better get back out running again and start the training for the half marathon in May which I am determined to do this year after being struck down by an ear infection and yet another virus the week before last year.

Went for a run today and pleased with the time - just about my better time for 4 miles. Planning 6 miles on Friday then its half mile increments until I reach 15 miles in the bank

    Happy New Year running!

  • I almost completed the NHS couch to 5K over the summer. Went away for a weekend and then with the rainy weather just never got going properly again. This thread has got me wanting to get my running shoes on again. Not sure where I'll find the time yet but I'm going to give it a very good go!

    Thanks.

Me too. Started running using C25K over summer but have been unwell for a few weeks so thinking of going back to about Week 3/4 on it and getting back into it. No time like the present!

Hi runninglea! TW is triathlete's world on runner's world. You should definitely come over if you're still thinking about doing HIM. I was looking at Wild Boar in September, beginner friendly, no cut off's I'm told. Not 100% sure now as not sure I can commit to all the training but still thinking about it. Would like to learn front crawl before that as well.

    Hey sparkles!

I've not come to the site that often since getting DF. Still running though but after the half mara got bit demotivated, put some weight on and got bit more unfit so it's been bit of a struggle. First run this year yesterday, just a 3 mile jog at lunch time with a workmate. We went slowly and it felt ok but thighs have been unnaturally stiff and achy today. Hey ho, another one tomorrow!

    Well done tirlittan!

I too put a bit a weight back on after the exercise stopped so I'm off for my first 1)k in a couple of months or more tomorrow.

I'll pop back on with my time to let you all know how it went and I hope yours goes well too

    Hello All,

Not really posted in this thread for a whilst, been a bit busy doing other things. In the past, this sort of set out to reply to the thread and it became like a blog thing.

This week, managed two runs setting out short distances of 3.1 & 3.23 miles. This time, i carry a Garmin 301 GPS running watch which gives me lots of motivation to carry on the pace.

For the 3.23mile loop this evening, the average pace downloaded at the end was 8:02 per mile. Next time will push out a little harder at the end, though tend to run 7:40/7:50 for the first few miles then as my mind wanders away the pace drops right off. I remember looking down at 15mins and 2miles were clocked up.

When i first started a few years back, 3 mile would be 30+ minutes.

Who knows, i might be back in 12/24 months reporting that ive broken 7min miles and now onto 6.

I think the goal for 2013 is more 1/2 Marathons, and to reduce the 5km/10km time.

    2012 brought 1x 10mile run around a city in europe, 2x 1/2 Marathons (1 hilly/1 flat & dull).

    AO
  • I am so unfit right now! Went out last night and forced myself to do 3 miles but it wasn't pretty... lots of sweating and blowing and very very slow! Must keep it up, running really helps me lose weight too...

Cazmanian Minx- the 9bar Ultra sounds really tough- is that one of the events that Rory Coleman organises? It's certainly an achievement to aim for!

    Oooh hello can I join?
Been a bit low on motivation at the 2nd half of 2012 but Monday is set for my new training plan as i'd like to do a few more races in 2013. I'm an off road runner, generally do trails, hills and ultras. Nearly all my training is done on trail (with about 4 dogs in tow!) so my times may look a bit slow. (well i'm not actually that fast anyway)
