Gutted - you know how I mentioned my legs were full of pain, hips and foot. Well all week its been worsening to full leg pain stiffness and hip pain non stop at night and day.

So I booked an appt with a sports physio and am just back from there. She took one look at my foot and said it was causing all the problems from foot up to hip and my feet were not good running feet. My hip area is compacted full of solid muscle and all running is off until this is sorted - prob take 4 weeks to sort

My foot is taped up to try and improve it and I'll be having a gait test too. So the 10k race is off for next weekend and although I could have done it and then started the treatment its so uncomfortable I don't think I can do it so we decided to start the treatment sessions and I'm happy to wait until all is sorted out. It doesn't matter as its better to get this sorted than keep going with it worsening. Niggles getting worse then go away and come back and worsen

Pleased to find out I was right thinking something wasn't right - disappointed to not run for more weeks and will be starting from way down in the training run but if it means I can run successfully in future then its worth it

Looks like I'll be back out again in May I think so good look with everyone's running and enjoy!

fedupandskint - better to miss 4 weeks training and one race rather than being in discomfort and making it worse. Hope it all gets sorted and you'll be back to running in no time.

Too true tirlittan - I don't mind missing 4 weeks training to get this sorted out once and for all. I'll be back out there when its all fixed and maybe with some different trainers too

I've been listening to marathon talk podcast from itunes and enjoying it greatly this week on my way to uni this week. Great interview with Ron Hill who I didn't even realise was a real person not a brand, let alond all the achievements made. Has some good training tips on there and is pretty upbeat in tone and knowledgeable.

Plan is for next year to aim for a half marathon in May 2011 and its no worry with a break like this for now. Mind you I am achey beyond belief today after yesterdays physio!

    Happy running everyone!

Sorry to hear your news Fedupandskint and I really do know how you feel. I had to pull out of Lausanne marathon because of problem with feet and acheles etc. Very disappointing.

Today I run for about 40 minutes - so slowing building up. It was interesting - my bodu was screeming for more but I had to stop because the same body would have been groaning tomorrow.

Thanks for all the thoughts x Nice to read them too

Funny now its sunday and I'm not running as it is one of the days I usually go and it does feel disappointing. My leg is aching away and uncomfortable but the stretches are helping this and I can tell how compacted the right side is. It was so bad I started limping yesterday, the stretches managed to ease it off for a while.

Can't wait to go back for the next session to help ease it off a bit more!

    Enjoy Spring Sunday running everyone!

Sorry to read your news but, again, better to be off for a month now and get better, than to risk long term damage and pain.

I'm about to head out for my run - attempting to do my longest pre-marathon run......did 15+ miles a couple of weeks ago, so looking to do 17/18 today......and then that will be it in terms of really long runs before the big day in 3 weeks.......

    Will report in later........!!

    Happy running guys x

Thanks - it wasn't fast or pretty, but it was miles under my feet, which is what I needed to do.

That was, with 3 weeks left, my last opportunity for a really long run - next week I think I am back to 10 miles ish which now seems like a stroll in the park :rotfl:
