    Hello,

I'm loving the idea of running with the dog! Not so sure she would love it as much as me though as is a very lazy golden retriever who's nose is permenantly attached to the ground! I may give this a bash when i manage to get the courage to run outside (or atleast the weather improves).

I took a week off from running as both my ankles swelled up 2 days after my last run. It seems to have settled down now, so i went back and just had a gentle mile and a half on treadmill. Felt fine so i am most hopeful i can get back on track before i lose my running mojo!!

Would like to get entry in for 10k race for life but will hold off and see if the ankles/shins are gonna be problematic first.

You guys are doing sooooo well, makes me want to get outside to run. Can anyone recommend a good jacket for running outside?

    thanks, nerak_y xx

nerak - sports direct are good value for a cheap useable Karrimor running jacket - they were on offer for £6 0 not sure if they still are. Even at their full price they're pretty good and I don't think they're that different to ones that cost more. I have a bright yellow one and a black and pink one. I did size up as they were a bit snug fitting and I wanted a bigger one for winter darkness to fit another layer under. They wash really well too

I'm just back from my run with the dog (who wasn't too keen halfway round!) and ran 5k - 3rd time this week - great! Think I'll up the distance a bit on Friday and not run with the dog for this one. Will see how the weather is first. After my one and off breaks with the runs I'm still feeling a bit less fit than before but I'm sure it'll come back pretty soon if I keep at it

Nerak, you know that you have to train your dog if he/she is to be a runner? No joke, there was an article on this one in Runner's World couple of years back.

Well, it was circuits for me todayl; and it was a training session with my trainer. He claims that doing only runnig is a cop out for me - because I enjoy it but if I want to really move ahead with my running I have to do the gym/resistence/weights lark. Oh, dear! How I did not need to hear this today...

    Hiya!
@fedupandskint, I had seen the Karrimor coats a while back but wasn't sure of how good they'd be. will have another nosy next time i am in town.

@Firewalker, My dog has recall, but there is no way i would run with her on the street as she goes one block then sits on her butt and refuses to go any further lol. Different story at the park mind you so that maybe an option.

I am waiting on the dodgy ankles settling before making appt with trainer to get a circuit program for the TRX suspension which i am dying to get my teeth into. I think it will help with the running as my core muscles are non existant and my balance rubbish!

maybe you should claim to hate the running and he will see it as pure punishment and lay off the weights/gym ;-)

  • Hi - I wouldnt be able to get out the front door if I wasnt taking the dog with me. As soon as I get in from work he won't settle until he's been out.

I usually run down the beach where I can normally let him off - not that many people on the beach at 6 o'clock in the evening at the moment! - Dont know why?

Haha, beats me! My nearest beach is a good half hour drive though :-(
I have an old volcano hill 5 mins from my house, and is great for varied pathways etc, is lovely and green and safe for the dog to be off lead however i'm not so sure on it's safety for me! Dog walker was murdered up there yrs back and you tend not to forget these things!

The shins are achey today after yesterdays tentative 1.5 miles, i am reading this as not a good sign. Will need to wait til i am more flush before going for gait analysis and seeing if i need other running shoes.

    Happy running people :)

I ran around busy main roads last night - a swift 3 miles, in 25.60 if the Garmin is correct! Tomorrow I'm going to do 6 miles and my Blast off Belly Fat DVD :D

    Happy Running everyone!

Is '25.60' 26 mins then? or am i being daft? I'd be happy to hit that myself if i were running outdoors. Treadmill is starting to feel a bit not real life ish if you know what i mean. As soon as the aches have gone i will attempt it over weekend providing it doesnt get tooooo cold!

Ah well, back to the studying for me since i am missing the gym today for it!

    have a braw day folks

  • Righto, I've been on Google maps and worked out that the path in the park near my house is about 1/2 a mile ... so going to try and run around at least half of this tomorrow morning before I have to stop and collapse - does that sound feasible? Or am I being a total wimp? It'll be my first run since school!

    Happy running this weekend everyone!
