A nice runnette in Paris, from me. Not long - only about 40 min. but I did put my running shoes on and went out.

Thanks Marru, that did make me laugh

I didn't run yesterday, went for an 8 mile walk......anyway, did 4 miles today and a 3 mile walk. I've got a weight bench (I know you need to do some strength excercises to keep running at your best) but haven't set it up yet plus I need some sort of idea of how to use it
I think I will challenge myself to set it up and start learning how to use it in the next week...:)

14 miles for me this morning - the first 10 miles were with runchum at 10mins run/1min walk, then I carried on for another 4 on my own at my own pace once she had done her 10.
11 weeks til marathon day - I think I am more or less on track - could do with a few more miles during the week and/or a bit more at my pace rather than runchums pace, but on the basis that at least I am getting out there and spending time on my feet, I am quite happy!
Keep going guys - running through the winter months is always tough - spring is on its way and then the fun really begins

Well done for your 14miles hypno - you sound like you're doing really well with this. I'm aiming to tick over around 6-8 miles until spring arrives then crack on to 12miles by the summer (wow that sounds a lot!)
I'm really looking forward to spring time and lighter mornings and evenings. It is hard to keep running over winter - I found it sapped my motivation a bit alongside life and things going on there. Anyway I might go out this afternoon or tomorrow, otherwise I might have a go at the dusty copy of 30 day shred a few times this week (as if!)final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
With only 11 weeks until Marathon day, 14 miles becomes more or less a minimum requirement for weekend running.....the key is to not be scared of the numbers, head out slowly, and just to enjoy it! I will probably try and do a similar distance next weekend, before adding a couple of miles the week after. I need to be able to do 20 miles quite comfortably (yeah right) by the middle of March. You will be at your 12 miles before you know it

Last time I did the marathon, I ended up taking a few weeks out over Feb because of some killer blisters (the size of tennis balls, and no kidding) and I am determined not to make that mistake again!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Run done - today I went on the hill; about 6.5 miles up and down twice. It is a wonderful day here; cold and crisp, gentle sunshine.
Hypno, may I say couple of things. There are different schools about millage and marathons and it took quite some time for my trainer to convince me that I do not need to do 50 miles a week; in fact high millage can cause different kinds of damage. Hence, the lond run does not have to get to be over 13-14 miles (in time about 2h 30 min). The trick is in the other runs: tiempo and hills; and strength and core stability exercises (press ups, squats and pull ups). As to blisters - vaseline and loads of it before every long run (and on marathon day).

Oh I am in no way going to do 50 miles a week! I only run 3 times a week, and this week have done 22 miles in total, so no danger of overdoing it

As for the blisters - it was the trainers that caused the problem before, once I got new ones it was fine....but it did take me a long time to get round to buying new ones on the basis that I couldn't "justify" the cost at the time!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Did a short run yesterday afternoon - 1.47 miles at an average pace of 10:19/mile. My calf was still tight from last Sunday, and while I was running it almost felt as if I had a 'living being' moving around the back of my leg !!!
But it didn't seize up afterwards, and still felt OK this morning - so I've been out for another short 'trot' this afternoon.
Managed 1.68 miles (at an average pace of 9:46/mile), and then stopped and walked the 1.36 miles home as soon as I felt it starting to pull (had gone out on a longer route, hoping to manage the full 3 miles). I'm hoping the fact the calf muscle didn't start to niggle until considerably further into the run is a good sign, and that I'll be able to gradually get further with each run.
Don't know how much running I'm actually going to be able to fit in this week though
I normally work full days on Mon & Tues, and afternoons only on Wed, Thur, Fri. But as we have 2 people off sick this week I've been roped in for an extra 10 hours, meaning 2 of my short days will become full ones (prob Thur & Fri). And after 9 hours at work - plus a 1hr lunch break - I still have to walk my dog (who won't run more than a mile, becoming slow towards the end of even that distance) before I can think of heading out for a run !!! Looks like the best I can hope for is the morning I'm not working (depending if I actually manage to get up in time
) and then the weekend - and I'm out for a meal Sunday lunch time, so will have to be up and out the door early if I'm going to fit a run in first that day

OMG - I have been out running  Well it was very slow 1 1/3 mile and then little stretch and another 1/3 mile. Decided to stop there while I was ahead and felt good. So now that despite my ever ongoing sniffles I am able to run (despite it being very very slow) I am now putting DD into breakfast club earlier couple of times this week and go for run in the mornings. We have showers at work so going to check them out.
Aim is to build up to 2 x 3 miles runs per week and then depending on the child care situation to do park run every other weekend (DD has Saturday school every other and I don't think I am quite fast enough to go and do the run, get back, shower and go to the school)."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
