  • just completed a 7 mile run - did 5 last night and 7 on sunday.

Take the dog with me so it tires him out too! He expects it every night now, as soon as i get in he wont stop barking until we go out.

See how many lbs i've lost this friday first weigh in. Only got to lose 7lbs in eight weeks so hopefully can achieve that

Running club tinight and, boy, was it hard work. We did intervals; 5 min at 80% with two minutes recovery - five of those. I am still feeling slightly out of breath and have been back for over an hour. But if you don't stress you don;t get stronger...

Gave myself a proverbial kick up the rear this morning, and forced myself out the door for the first run since Sunday's race

Managed 3.3 miles in 34:13 (av 10:22/mile) - but not disappointed as I have a slightly stiff calf muscle and also included one of the steepest local hills (not a very long one, but 'tis steep!)

  • Hello everyone  I hope you don't mind if I join you all?

Found your thread through marru recommending to cw on another thread :D I have been running on and off for 3-4 years now but seriously fell off the running wagon in the summer due to being incredibly busy....anyway after xmas just needed to start it again as I just felt so bloated and unhealthy!

So, started a couple of weeks ago and run most days. Yesterday I ran 4 miles in 40 mins and still haven't decided what to do today....when I run I normally go by the seat of my pants and just do what I fancy on the day! Have got my own treadmill and have been running on that, but when the days get longer I will start running outside.

Anyway, enough waffle about me....hope everyone has lots of good runs this week and will keep posting when I have done my runs...

    (I am 32 btw)

Today was gym and circuits for me. Managed to talk to my trainer - his position is not to push for everything and go for enjoying running and loosing weight. Once this has been achieved we can start building strength and speed. The Universe willing..

  • Only did 3 miles today in 30 mins, could have done more, but ran out of time as had to pick up littlies from school :D As I am running on the treadmill at the moment I set it for 6.1mph and on an incline (not steep) to try to account for the 'sameness' of the run iykwim? So when I start running outside again the wind and the slight uphills and downhills won't slow me down too much - do other people do this? i can't remember whether this was something I read that you should do or whether it is just in my head that this will make my transition to outdoor running easier :o (I did run outdoors when I first started, but got a treadmill in the winter and never really went out again as it was so convenient..!)

Another 4.5miles for me yesterday. First half I really struggled again (oh when will this stop????:o) possible because couple or times I had to speed up past groups of people I didn't want to show I was really unfit;like builders :o and a group of younger girls...This is just so bad and embarrasing that I'm reduced to doing that.:rotfl:

Anyway, for second half I managed to get into a good rythm and almost kind of enjoyed it. Can't believe how fast your fitness goes and the struggling starts. Legs are feeling pretty heavy and powerless atm as have started back cycling as well to work. It's no distance but I pretty much bomb it every time.

Looking forward to getting back to fitness so I'll start really enjoying it again. Have been good this week though, doing some sort of exercise everyday if not more than one type. :)

I refused to let my body do this, and after a couple of weeks it started to listen to me :rotfl:

My train of thought goes along the lines of 'if I stick to my own pace I'll manage to get further (and progress faster), and I bet none/very few of them could keep up my pace for the distance anyway' :)
