  • Really happy this morning. Week 10 run 1 done of G28K:D I lied to myself when I went out and said I would only do a quick 30 minute run.Knowing deep down if it was going O.K. I was going to try for the whole 50 minute "all at once run". I did it:D I have to say it was very very slow though;). I figured that physcologically speaking it was better to complete the run than give up.
Given all the choccies I have eaten I am now feeling quite virtuous.First run I have ever done in thick fog.
Good luck to anyone else braving it out there.

Hey all. Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas.
I haven't been running for ages, last time was beginning of December I think. Was ill with a heavy cold just before Xmas and it's still lingering, but will get back to running in January.
Don't worry about speed to begin with, all that will come later, just keep doing the miles!

Just back from a delicious run - only about 5 miles but managed to hit all hills in town (well two hills and one hillett to be precise, but this is all we have around here).

Coll running to all for 2011 - speed, agility and endurance is what I wish for me and for all.

Abour 6K done - took rather long because Little Boy ran with me. He is very fast short distance but being still nine needs time for the longer stretches. We did some hills as well. Sweet - and hope to sleep tonight.

Finally got back out running with the dregs of this cold I've had for the last few weeks. Well the 10k wasn't great due to blowing my nose every few mins and me feeling quite unfit after all the lolling around eating biscuits and chocolate for the last few weeks

Was determined to go to help me feel tired and sleep better. Will try and get out again tomorrow for around a 5k then next weekend for another run 10k.

Happy New Year Everyone and Happy Running!

I wasn't too happy running today!

Luckily I have managed to run every day since Christmas day, was a tad miffed The Grim was cancelled but at least they have re arranged: so, for Jan I have the Grim and Tough Guy. Also seem to have found a local running club, maybe I should join:D

Happy New Year Runners! After doing the GNR and moving in the same week my running went ground to a halt, but I'm pleased to report I'm back on the wagon :j

I have dusted off my running shoes and have been 3 times in the last week. A 3 miler, a 4 and a tough 6 miler on NYE. I planned to go this morning, but family life thwarted my plans, so will aim for another 10k in the morning.

I ordered a cheapish Garmin and some new shoes with some Christmas money, so will read the user manual tonight and take them on their maiden voyage tomorrow.

Hope everyone's well and feeling motivated :)
  • Hello everyone. Nice to see lots of people on here as I find it really helps if I know there are other people around to give me a good kicking if I don't get up and out there;)

I had a bit of a shock yesterday because my DH announced he was coming with me for my run:eek: Now he is super fit but he had to give up running a few years back due to problems with his shins. Anyway he decided I go slow enough that he would be O.K. Well it meant I couldent faff around and blow my nose or look at the sceanery....anyway the long and short of it is week 10 run 2 of the G28K is done:D It felt quite good. The bad news is I only managed to run 6.5K in 50 minutes so I guess I am still the slowest runner in town. I will keep going at this speed until I have built up my stamina(especially after the christmas choccies) and then I will try and go faster. I am feeling confident enough I think to look out for my first real run (either 5 or 10K) this is one of my new years resolutions so I would be really chuffed if I did it.
Well done to everyone who has been oout.:)

It was the gym for me today - and I don't like it. But necessary. In fact I even managed 20 tap press ups - impressed even myself.

I don't think you're the slowest runner in town Teachergirl! Your tenacity will win out in the end and as Rich used to say, distance comes first, then speed :)

I took my Garmin for it's maiden voyage yesterday. My 6 mile route is actually 5.83m and took me 1.01.07, so that's my aim to beat next time I go out.

Entered the Mirror GNR early ballot today, so hope to get a place and last night entered a Half in Feb. A bit daunting but hopefully it will keep me motivated!
