  • Afternoon tirlittan. I ran last Friday morning and should have ran again Sunday morning but I had a house full of teenagers on Saturday night and didn't get enough sleep to even comtemplate running in the morning. I would have attempted a half hour run tonight but have been up the last two nights with a dog with sickness and the runs(Gave up spelling the other word;)) So hopefully next run Friday morning. MSE has been running very slowly for me so I have given up tryingto post the last couple of days. Can I ask you tirlittan what is fartlek? You mentioned it in your other post and I am intrigued.
fedupandskint are you feeling any better yet? I have had my haircut and the fringe is too short so I look even more like max wall:eek:;)

Hey. Fartlek is a Swedish word meaning 'speed play'. It's bit like intervals but not constructed. So say after a warm up you decide to run faster between two streetlights, then catch your breath, then sprint between two trees etc.

I went for a run last night, 5.5mi with 3x strides at the end. Last half a mile my ankle started giving me chip but carried on. It hurt when I got home and I actually think it's my achilles. It still doesn't like going up or down stairs and still hurts.:( Today was going to be a rest day anyway but was planning runs for Fri and Sat but now I have to wait and see when it feels good enough to try again. So annoying! :(

  • tirlittan hope your ankle is feeling better. I managed G28K week 8 run 1 early this morning. It was a bit disasterous really because I didn't listen to his instructions at the beginning. So I thought I had three runs. I seemed to be getting a long way in the interval so I kept adding bits to my route in order to get the three runs in. Then the end sounded and I was still at least 15 minutes from home and I realised it was two runs of twenty minutes:o and I had already been out for 50 minutes, so I added a bit more running. It wasn't a particularly good run because my heart monitor was playing up and at one point it told me I had no heart beat:eek: I ended up either running really slowly to get in zone or running very fast as it wasn't registering anyway. At the moment my goal is just to increase my stamina so I don't mind about not being too fast but once I get to 8K I might add some faster running. I really went this morning because we didn't have snow and Ice and I guess that peoples running plans may be stopped this week because of the weather.
    Keep going everyone:)

    I'm sure you don't!

As for me I have been ill for the whole of this week and haven't been out running for 2 weeks now because of how bad I feel.

I am aiming to get back out again next week because I don't want to let all the progress to go to waste

    Happy running everyone!

I'm not going to argue but I am avoiding the mirror for a few weeks till it grows back;)

I hope you feel better soon..it's so frustrating when you have been on a roll and then you can't run because you are sick. Do you run outside?I notice you are from a northen town..any snow?

  • No snow but bitterly cold up in west yorkshire - may be getting some snow overnight or tomorrow!

I do run outside and I like it when its colder as its easier to run - hey ho, should be back out there next week when I feel better

  • Morning everyone. Really cold here but no snow....yet. Decided to go for my run, my first when it is this cold. Could not find a beanie style hat so I put on my "posh" lands end one which is fleece but has a nice band and a brim on it, then I could only find some large pink and blue fleecey gloves but I put them on. I wore a bum bag with my phone in (in case I fell over and needed a lift back home) and loads of tissues because my nose runs so much in the cold!:o I didn't look much like a runner and I so hope noone saw me;) (I am getting a hat and gloves for runnning in for christmas.)
I didn't wear my heart monitor this morning which means I can run as fast as I like and not have to worry which zone I am in.
Anyway I did it:j:j. I really enjoyed it too. This old bird is feeling great.Week 8 run 2 of the G28K done. Two twenty minute runs with a two minute walk between them.
Good luck to anyone else running today.:)
