  • Hi emily and welcome :hello:

I started running on the C25K programme at the end of June and followed it to the letter running every other day and 3 runs per week of the programme. I felt so puffed at the start I couldn't imagine getting to the end of 5K. Well I did it and by Wk4 it went much better and off I went towards 5K. My advice would be follow the programme and don't worry if some days are more difficult than others, you'll get to where you want if you stick to it. Then you can focus on the speed and time which I expect will come as you progess

  • Hi there,

I have to say that I just started running - yes I did read but I mainly listened to my body. When I passed the 10K races mark though I got a trainer - made the world of difference.

Just back from my long run - 1h 55 min out of which the tun was 1h 50 min (over 9 miles but had a technical problem so don't know exactly how long). Run some of the time with a firend who is faster than me (and I have more stamina than she does) - so overall great.

    Hi fellow runners,

what nothing today? I had a training session - Lord, who am I kidding. I have lost my strength. A simple circuit (40 press ups, 60 squats, 59 half heaves and 0.25 miles at snail pace) mad eme feel sick. Ahhhh...and panic sets.

    Hello.
I went for a run after work yesterday. Did 5 miles in 50mins (same time as last weeks 4.5mi) in soggy grass and trainers were getting heavier and heavier towards the end. Thought I overdid it, but not feeling too bad today, yet. Maybe because I cycled to training afterwards;only gentle 15 mins there and then back. :)

Quite fancy a cycle ride after work today but it's peeing it down. See what the weather's like later.

Sorry no running from me since the weekend. And now I am hurtling towards the run on Sunday!!! I have pmt and feel about 10st heavier than I am, but will have to have a small jog to stretch my legs before then I think.

Thanks Firewalker for keeping things going :T

  • I haven't run since Sat as I came down with a massive cold/flu thing on Sun and still have every symptom going and can't run like this. Fed up about it as enjoyed the longer run and wanted to do at least 3 this week

Will be back out there as soon as I feel better

Sorry to hear you not feeling so well fedupandskint. It's annoying when you're in your stride and then you get ill...Bf has been out of action for couple of months now because of his foot; took him to watch my team play in a match and that really got to him, people having fun and exercising. Trying to keep him busy going to free cinema etc, otherwise he'd be climbing up the walls (unfortunatley, climbing is one of his hobbies...).

Anyway, to the point. Went for a group run yesterday, there's this running shop that does free runs on Wednesday nights. I like running on my own but feel the group pushes me to go bit faster and one of my friends goes as well;she's way faster than me though. Did a 5mi route with couple of hills, one of them almost killing me. Didn't have my watch either but think I did it in 55-60mins. I'm ok about that, the speed will come, for now I'll concentrate on getting out there and doing some running. :)
