  • Hi sparkles (And anyone else lurking!)

I did another 30 minutes today...will stick with that for the next few days. Can't believe how much better my ankle feels, don't know if it was just me thinking I couldn't do it all this time or what but no trouble with it yesterday or today :) Happy running everyone :D

ps - I have been doing lots of walking so that may explain why my ankle can take the running :/

Well done sparkles for getting out there and LMH for starting again!

My plan is to go for a lunch time run either tomorrow or Friday. Today I have spin, feeling quite tired and bit stuffy again but hopefully I can get my ar$€ in gear and get there.

  • Good luck getting out there tirlittan :)

Had to put off my run to the evening yesterday and I think I will keep that going as it was much more convenient to fit it in then! Weigh in night tonight so I hope all this running (and walking) has got me somewhere!

ETA - did 3 miles, 32.25 mins, slowly improving, hoping to get back to 3 miles in 30mins in the next couple of weeks and build from there.

    Well done LMH!

Did the spin yesterday and half an hour core session. No running this lunch time but will go for a swim in the evening. Run tomorrow and then pilates on Saturday.

  • Another 3 miles today :) So Mon-Fri this week I have done 3 miles every day :j

I am definitely back on it! I will have either Sat or Sun off, then may up the distance to 3.5 miles or I might just leave it for another week as I am also walking over an hour a day :D

I'm off out this afternoon aiming for around 6-7 miles as feel a little delicate after a night out yesterday. Keep on going everyone!

I have been a runner in the past, though over the past 2 years is slowly sloped off and now its whenever i feel like, and when sport dictates over a set routine.

Recently i was starting to see left leg calf pain about 5 1/2 miles into a gental run, at about 10min miles. If i kept on running, this would spread down into the outside of the foot causing a limp.

As this had happened a few times with a half marathon coming up, i decided to take a week off running to let things heal.

Today was the half marathon, things started well until i looked at my watch at the 3 mile point to notice that the time was just over 23mins. My calfs were already burning as the first 2 miles were hilly.

About 5 miles onwards, the calf pain was solid and stretching it off helped a little. About mile 8 onwards, the pain was permanent and would not shift with stretching. The remainder 5 miles were spent running with the discomfort and setting stretching points ahead.

I know that increasing the regular distance from 6-8-10-12 miles over a period will help, but this is unlikely to happen and i just need to deal with it at the next event etc.

Anyhows, the time was just over 2 hours which is not my personal best. I was at 9miles at 1hr 19mins which was a shame to the overall time.
  • Didn't run yesterday so will need to find some time today to fit it in. sparkle - I feel your pain (literally) as I was out last night and didn't roll in until early hours (it's years since I did that!)....feeling very delicate, hoping taking the dog for a walk will blow the cobwebs away!
