    Hi All

Good news Barclaycard have stopped all interest on my account and have accepted the payment.

This was the creditor I thought I would have trouble with so feeling quite relieved today.

No news from Aqua my last creditor.

    so Barclayloan accepted
    Barclayoverdraft not accepted pending
Argos accepted payment but still interest on this months bill
    Next accepted no interest
    Vanquis accepted no interest
    Barclaycard accepted no interest

I must admit I didnt think it would be this easy I wish Id contacted the CCCS 2 years ago when I was first in trouble.

Oh well lets hope Barclays Bank change their mind fingers crossed.

Good luck to you all Jackiexxxxx

Great news here today. I have been wondering for a while whether to try to claim back the PPI on a loan I took out in 2004 and which is part of my DMP. 2 weeks ago I spent my lunch hour reading all the stuff on the relevant forum and took the plunge. Today I received an offer of £1600! I offered and it is a condition that I put the money towards that debt (something I can do now I am managing my debts myself and am so close to the end of the tunnel). This removes the temptation to spend the money on some more 'useful' things and will mean just 4 more payments on that debt!

    Hi Jackie,

Good news on the ebay front, every little helps as they say!

You might as well have a go at claiming PPI back on your loan, you've not nothing to lose and everything to gain so go for it:)

Hope that you have a relaxing Sunday

    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    cliche first: Long time lurker!

LBM seems like only yesterday but was actually 16.06.2009 -Unsecured Debt at that time was £32741 give or take, equity is over 100,000 and that's only the house, not pensions or ISA's, seemed like a good plan with our only child being only 10 and all going swimmingly.. not so it seems - that's how fast it can catch up

My hubby and I have been married 21 years and have never claimed a single penny of benefits, we are self employed and are also flexible as to what we can turn our hand to. 4 Years ago he nearly dieded (twice!) and the exorbitant policy he'd been paying for for critical illness/self employed sick cover did not pay out because he didn't actually die or stay critically ill for ,more than 28 consecutive weeks!! - in truth He really couldn't (and didn't) work for nearly 2 years and even with the best support from local health care officials and never having claimed a days sick pay in our lives we actually got 700ish (yes 2 zeros) for a 32000 (yes 3 zeros) insurance claim,

Meanwhile we, as a family, also hit a crisis whereby because we nearly lost one of our own we lived for each day as it came not budgeting nor being too extravagant but just living for the moment we were extremely thankful for the days we had and were not looking for the 2 years future we were kindly given.. so our CC Bills and LBM now tell the story, and the recession (hubby self employed and now back to "work") kindly took care of the rest :T

So here I am today a little older and greyer, and all my principals are out the window.. We entered a DMP last July as there really was nowhere else to go, Credit Rating is shot, Principles are out the window, I want to pay everyone off, it is not in my nature to "OWE" I feel like poops most of the time, BUT then I remember that I have my family and i read this board and a lot of things are starting to make sense slowly..

So to the point, today even in the DMP we still didn't get the whole budget thing right and it seems still we gained a little debt this past year - the figure now is 29403 with an overdraught of 1300 = 30703 which means we did actually make a dent in it, tiny though it may be - we have no other debts and the mortgage has also reduced by about 1500 too

For the poser who asked earlier, I had a really good experience with Barclaycard, they reduced the interest on my very first phone call, but said they would "watch" for 3 months to see if I stuck to my word - the DMP took over the case after one month and within 2 further months they froze everything which was as good as their word, if not better as they didn't reduce it they zero'd it, but we never actually defaulted (without the prior notice that is) so perhaps that's a factor

Cap One was my bugbear as they were not even prepared to negotiate with me personally (I still gave them what I was prepared to offer as per my phone calls), however within 2 months of the DMP they stopped hassling and it seems like they too have frozen all (though they could still be charging?)

That's the sob story and Year one of my DMP Journey

    Hi Suz and Welcome,

Jackie is away at the moment but we have been keeping each other going over the last few weeks and you are certainly welcome to join in with us:)

My story is similar to yours, up until two years ago although we had CC's they were manageable and we also had various savings accounts. My OH is self-employed and various circumstances lead us to using CC's and all of our savings to live until savings were all gone and we could no longer pay the minimums on CC's

Our DMP is due to start on 1st Sept but we should have done this 12 months ago as our debt has increased substantially since then.

I'm finding it very difficult to adjust because as you say it goes against all of your principles and I have to keep telling myself that there was no alternative.

Anyway, do join us on our journey and keep posting. Maybe we can all help each other along the way:)
