Great 'MoneySaving Apps' Hunt

Tube Refund - not strictly a money saver, but it's essential for any iPhone-using Londoners who regularly get delayed on the Underground. Stores your Oystercard number and personal details so all you have to do is enter the date, time and details of the delay and submit it via 3G. Costs £1.19 but each voucher TfL posts you is worth £1.80 of credit, so it makes its money back very quickly - I'm already about £10 up!0
-
Accounts - allows you to keep track of your pennies by setting up your regular deposits and credits as well as entering one off transactions as you make them. I find it very handy to plan ahead knowing exactly how much I have left to play with.
ShopShop - allows you to put together shopping lists which you can then score off as you pick items up. Helps to ensure I don't end up buying things I don't need in the supermarket.
TopTable - shows offers available in nearby eateries, has sample menus, user reviews, the ability to book your table and can even give you directions to the place you've booked. If you leave a review you're rewarded with points which can be redeemed for free meals. Please note you may find little/nothing available if you live out in the sticks!0 -
I love Vouchercloud - you can open the app wherever you are and it will direct you to the places closest to you who are offering special offers. You can filter by what you're after too such as restaurants, shops, bars etc. I'm out and about a lot so it saves me a fortune!
I've also seen a lot of retail and hotel discounts which I'm sure lots of people could save a bomb using!0 -
just a comment regarding some third party banking apps mentioned above. it is moneysaving not to use a third party banking app. it might prove too costly is money is taken out of the bank account! plus the bank wont refund you as you gave out your passwords to third parties.free Android application can be used to get live petrol pricing data straight to your Android smartphone http://www.whatgas.com/mobi/android.html
NetCounter for Android allows you to keep tabs on your data usage. This helps you to avoid getting your connection throttled if you exceed the 'fair use policy' of your unlimited plan, or seeing yourself stung with out of bundle charges if you're on a limited plan.
By long-clicking on the 'Monthly' part of the Cell data chart, you can change the monthly start date to concide with the start date of your data plan. Then you can set up an alert which will notify you if you're coming close to exceeding the limit you've set for a given time period. So if you set the duration period to one month and then set the limit to something just under your data plan's allowance, you'll be able to avoid any unpleasent suprises when your end of month statement comes through

you can use locale app for autoswitching off off data connection based on your location. you can auto switch on / off wifi / 3g / roaming data connection etc depending on your requirements. this will avoid bill shock.
you can minimise your data usage for browsing by using browsers that compress data by 90% like opera mini browser on android.

by the way why does this money saving expert website not have a mobile friendly website. i am sure loads like me access this site via mobiles. please dont waste money by making apps for various platforms. it is much easier making a mobile version of the website that anyone can access from any phone platform. apps might not work properly if firmware is upgraded, best to have mobile version of website so that mobile users can use all the money saving features on moneysavingexpert website more often without having to use the regular version of the website that hogs the data. most popular websites have mobile versions and it is time moneysavingexpert website and forums has a mobile friendly version too! and if MSE decides to go down the app route then for android now it is supposedly easy to make an app as apparently uou dont need to be a coder to make an app with the release of the recent software by google http://www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/2010/07/13/google-unveils-app-inventor-for-android/1 so can please MSE make available all the useful price comparison checkers available on MSE but roll all of them into one and make an app for android using the link mentioned above!!!that would make our money saving efforts easier!

Expensify (Free)
Losing receipts and forgetting when you’ve forked out cash for work are two of the main reasons why you probably haven’t claimed for as many expenses as you’ve paid for. Expensify will make sure you’ll never lose out again. It lets you take pictures of receipts and record an entry whenever you need to expense something, saving them online for easy recall.

HulloMail - This is a great app that can save you money in several ways
1) When abroad you can set all your diverts to voice mail (or turn your phone off) and you will still be able to get your messages and missed calls using the web and WIFI so avoiding the extortionate international call charges
2) You can send voice messages directly to other HulloMail users (and to non HulloMail users by email) for free using your data connection
3) Gives you the option of choosing a cheaper network for an iPhone than O2 and still have visual voice mail capabilities (Orange and Vodafone don't support the built in visual voice mail)
They have an app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android but you don't even need the app to use the service so anyone with a contract phone can use it0 -

Given all the mobile co's are limiting data use to a set cap and charging if you exceed that limit it may be better to stick to txt and calls that come from monthly allowances than using data.
Depends on your allowane and how you use the phone otherwise, but theres no point having to pay for extra data when if like me you get a huge bundle of txts you never fully use anyway0 -
If you've got an iPhone on O2, you've already got access to thousands of The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots around Europe -- so even if you're abroad, you can still get online for free, without worrying about the 500Mb data cap!
To ensure you're registered, get The Cloud's Wi-Fi FastConnect app for FREE and look out for WiFi Zone - The Cloud when you need to get online.
Even if you're not on O2, many of these hotspots provide free access -- you just have to register, and the app will help you find them.0 -
Parkingmate - tells you when your meter is about to expire. Ok you can just look at the time but this has an alarm just incase you forget.0
