A & L migration to Santander

To get your overdraft matched take your account card and recent bank statement from the bank you switched from to a Santander branch and ask them to put through a request to match overdraft.
They need to take a copy of your bank statement as evidence that you hold that overdraft already and then can look to match it.
This is what they did for me and it was done within 72hrs!0 -
We were able to access our account about two weeks ago. No further communication re our complaint and no compensation. First Direct Account set up (very easy), let's see how switching goes...
Transferred some money from current account to plussaver account, money left current account 4th Sep, today 8th Sep, still hasn't arrived in plussaver account!0 -
I am another who has held an "upgraded" plus 50 A&L/Santander account for a year and now want to return to the old account, as the interest rate drops after a year to almost nothing but they continue to take out a £10 monthly charge. I was promised when I upgraded that this could be done by phone. But now it can't. You have to close the account completely and take out another one. I felt sorry for the man who had to explain this yet again to an astonished and disappointed customer once I had got through on their very irritating new phone system. I've been thinking about closing this account anyway, and obviously this is forcing my hand. First I have emptied PlusSaver into the current account, and tomorrow I am paying the bulk of the current account into NatWest, forewarned by this site that there have been numerous errors in closing accounts. And I am still waiting for the restoration of the transfer they made to my daughter - twice, meaning I lost an extra £3,500 (of course she will give me a cheque for it. However, they did say they would reverse one of the transactions, but it didn't happen over the last two weeks).0

Well we have lift off........ success at last I took advice off this thread and emailed the head honcho. I had a letter saying my complait about no reference names on the faster payments had started since the take over by santander (which was causing major probs for me) had been passed on to custormer services. They in turn sent a letter acknowledging my problems and they would be looked at no promises. Yeh right me thinks
But no what is this????? they have sorted it all the payments coming into the account now have faster payment and the name of the person sending the money :T
Well done santander and thanks to the people who recomended emailing the head man  cheers:rotfl:

Alliance & Leicester really are the pits, I've had accounts with them for over 30 years (stated off as the Giro Bank) and for one of my accounts they have me down as 'Mrs' and on the other 'Miss' both with the same surname, address, dob etc.
Since the change over my Savings Account has been missing from internet banking but I've left it as is expecting it to re-appear. Anyway, I've just rung to transfer some funds and have been told my details don't match, i.e. one account has me as Mrs and the other as Miss!! This was after all the various security checks including asking for the account numbers, my debit card expiry date, and the last 3 digits on the back. Apparently, this is also the reason why my SA doesn't appear online.....well if they'd contacted me about this earlier I'd have sorted it!
I'm all for security, but how can an incorrect title be seen as fraud. Looks like a trip to a branch this lunch time, and I do hope they are able to sort it without referring me elsewhere.0 -
Hopping mad as unable to access A & L online account for a week now due to 'planned maintenance' - when I rang to sort it out I asked security questions about an account I could not see (what are you last two transactions?). If I could get on the website I would know the answers. As I couldnt tell them, I was told I couldnt be put through to the technical support to get it resolved. uggh
Off to the Co-op - enough is enough.0 -
I haven't been able to access my online account since the beginning of August. I have lost all trust in this bank. When I try to log in it says 'security details have been entered 3 times, account has been blocked'. They have sent me 2 new pin numbers now and none of them work. Totally fed up with them and am in the process of moving to a new bank after 29 years, despite all the hassle with direct debits etc that entails.0

I am pleased to say i've just switched banks, I'm debating whether or not to actually close this account, can't see much reason for keeping it open0

Hi Slugger........... I am also in the process of switching banks, but I will keep this Santander account open until ALL ( and I mean ALL types of transactions and business is fully working at my new bank )
It's a belt and braces approach as there will be some interest to be added in October to my 3 savings accounts and they are not having that - even if it might only be pennies !!! :rotfl:
