A & L migration to Santander

It astonishes me after all of the pages of posts regarding Santander on this forum (not just this thread) that more of you aren't upping sticks and moving from Santander. What will they have to do to you to really make you decide ?
There are other banks out there
For me its because living in the deep end of a £1200 overdraft, interest charges are capped at £5 a month. I don't think there's another bank out there that can compete with that.0 -

It will take Santander doing something that actually adversely affects me or screwing up bigtime.
They haven't yet and the account has advantages that aren't easily matched elsewhere.
One wonders what proportion of their customers actually DO have problems - probably very small.
I'm still wary of them though.
From posts on here I would come to the same conclusion about every single bank - to be avoided.0 -

You are absolutely right!! :T As soon as I return from my hols we will move our account from A&L (Santander) It's with a heavy heart after about 41years. Just want to feel in control of MY money and to feel trust in a bank again.
I have been given so much conflicting, incomplete and inaccurate advice speaking to A&L and Santander advisers !!
Latest bank account shows interest paid net for both although I have been credited gross for years. Secure message several days ago has not had any response.
I would start to move account now but I need to be around to watch and take note of progress so unfortunately will have to wait a few weeks.:(0 -
I cant move as I am in a DMP, (I owe money to NatWest, Lloyds TSB and Barclaycard
) and HSBC would only give me a cashcard which frankly is neither use nor ornament to me - I dont use cash! So Im stuck with Santander I guess.

Our ex A&L account (migrated to Santander) is allowing Faster Payments online as recently as 4 hours ago, if that helps at all.
Entry shows as this online....
STANDING ORDER VIA FASTER PAYMENT TO SOME PERSON PLC REFERENCE X1234567890 , MANDATE NO 0001
Were you using the A+L system or Santander?
I have accounts with both and I just did an experiment. Managed to send £100 via FPS from an A+L account on the A+L system. However trying to send £1 from the A+L account on the Santander system isn't going by FPS. Trying with other Santander accounts on Santander and I'm still having no luck with FPS.
A+L on A+L system: BILL PAYMENT VIA FASTER PAYMENT TO ME..., MANDATE NO 0001
A+L on Santander system: BILL PAYMENT TO ME..., MANDATE NO 0001.
This is really frustrating. Money I sent from my A+L account on the Santander online banking system to a NW accoutn a few days ago is yet to arrive while money from the same A+L account sent to the NW account via the A+L online banking system has arrived in seconds.0 -
I have accounts with both , although the A&L one does not appear on the Santander (Abbey) site
The A&L and Santander (Abbey) accounts both pay via faster payments on the A&L site
One could be forgiven for thinking that A&L have taken over Santander as the A&L site is superior to Santander
I wonder whether this will be short lived and we have Santander's "One Time Password " and slower payments to look forward toHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My saga continues - it is now over 4 weeks since I had any access to my mother's accounts. No replies to secure messages either, so I'm glad I submitted the formal complaint. When I'm feeling strong I'll try phoning the complaints department to see how they are getting on, also I intend to make sure that it doesn't get dropped (after 8 weeks) if they hear nothing further from me.

Has anyone else's name been changed on their account after migrating? My A&L account had my initials and surname but I have just received my first Santander statement and it shows my full name, first, middle and surname. I am wondering which I need to use when setting up new payments and changing details of existing payments into the account.0

I was PROMISED last week that I would have access to my account today. All the "issues" was supposed to be fixed over the weekend.
Guess what?!?! NOTHING! I still can't access MY MONEY!!
Formal complaint is in the post...0 -
I still cannot access my account either!
It's a joint account and my husband can access it, but I can't.
We will definitely be moving banks after 35 years with Giro/A+L.0
