    Totally agree, ynwa!
Looks as if the staff here at MSE are looking closely at Santander and this research will be written up/published next week

I suddenly have a £5 underfunding charge pending on my account which I have never been hit with before and I am sure I did not get the warning letter. I keep loads of money with them and regularly move lots between my savings and current account although it is possible in one 30 day period I did not fund by the required amount from an external source but it would seem pretty silly of them to lose my business over this which is what will happen. Can I close all my accounts except for the 3.5% ISA?
    I think....

I can confirm that faster payments are working on the second transaction for that payee.

I made a payment to my NatWest account last week and it took two days to show up. I made another payment yesterday and it showed up instantly.
  • My wife's A and L current account has been reading "unavailable" online for the past 8 days (the savings account is showing OK). She got through last Friday and was told the problem would be sorted after last weekend. She was told today that it will be sorted after next weekend. At least she was given some assurance that direct debits have been going out. It's very scary to have such disruption with no real sign of it being sorted. My account transferred OK a few weeks ago.
I suppose it's a question of waiting patiently.
  • Hey folks - I'm fairly new so I really do apologise if somewhere within those 14 pages this is answered but I'm not too savvy and in a bit of a tizz.

I've had fairly smooth access - just had to phone through the change my address and got sent around the houses.

Received a paper bill in the changed format which threw me. As with others my account number is the same but the sort code has changed - found out today when statement arrived.

I've got two substantial amounts coming in from new job and money I earned doing something extra on my course which I've just finished. Had no income since June!! I am ridiculously low on funds and am counting on this money coming in next Friday - I have just started at a school, this is my first wage I'm relying and obviously in the old sort code.

Do you think there will be problems with it going in? I am literally on my last funds. My partners paid my rent and bills this month as I waiting on this money. Thanks folks! Wish we had a heads up on this sort code changing - they said nothing would alter!
  • Faster Payments still are not working for me with either my Santander or Alliance and Leicester accounts (all sending to a Natwest account). I've sent at least 5 payments now and they all seem to be going through via BACS.

According to this CHAPS site FPS won't work through Online Banking. It's kinda frustrating seeing as though A+L did support online FPS.

Our ex A&L account (migrated to Santander) is allowing Faster Payments online as recently as 4 hours ago, if that helps at all.

    Entry shows as this online....

STANDING ORDER VIA FASTER PAYMENT TO SOME PERSON PLC REFERENCE X1234567890 , MANDATE NO 0001
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

The underfunding charge is probably an error, quite a lot of people were hit with it for no apparent reason (myself included). Check your account credits and give them a call :)

Yep - it'll go through fine. I checked re my own wages - and OH's weekly wages are going through fine on his old sort code.

It astonishes me after all of the pages of posts regarding Santander on this forum (not just this thread) that more of you aren't upping sticks and moving from Santander. What will they have to do to you to really make you decide ?

There are other banks out there
