    Morning folks :)

What's up with the forums? I know they did some work on them yesterday, and since then, posts have started repeating themselves, apparently at random!

Mike, Jack & Sam - have a great weekend!

Poo - a job well done there :T:T:T. Yes, I agree with Maty, it looks like a cue for a Mike's Mob Hit Squad!

By the way those of you who have a vocation in cheering people up - someone needs a bit of support here .

Hi all, hope you have a lovely weekend!! Say hi to the boys Mike and make sure they keep their rooms tidy!!:D

I finished work at 4.30 this morning, after a 13hr shift and I'm back in at 17.50 for another night flight. I hate my job sometimes. I have also been applying for small part time jobs, and had a call this morning about a night carer for a ladys mum, just helping her up in the night and stuff. bit scared now!!:o

    Hi all,
Amazing how this thread can keep going even on a Saturday daytime, isn't it!
Thanks to all those who are asking... (PMs will be replied to asap, which means when I have made some space in my inbox!) I am flitting about trying to keep busy and not worry about mum, who is out of hospital again and clearly not herself. She's getting increasingly confused but she passes the tests for mental capacity so there's nothing we can do yet. She's refusing help from Social Services which would go a good way to setting my mind at rest.
However... as I said, I'm trying to keep active although my concentration's all over the place. I am determined that this isn't going to steal my life away.
Psycho, I thought my work hours were all over the place till I saw yours! Do ask lots of questions about the caring job: I'm guessing you are new to it though if you're an old hand please ignore the following advice! LOL.
Meet the person you would be supporting and find exactly what your duties would be and whether there's a requirement for training and/or CRB, and whether PPE (Personal protective equipment) is provided. Being in a not-dissimilar role myself (I work with adults with complex needs) I know that good colleagues come from very varied backgrounds. It can be scary to start with but it's undoubtedly one of the most rewarding things to do.

Rest of you - hope you're out enjoying the sunshine!

Thanks Miggy! I don't really have any experience, but I do deal with a very wide range of people and needs in my job. Any other advice? Im scared about calling her back, when I was emailing yesterday I had my friend from work supporting me and motivating me! There is a CRB check required, but I've got one for my current job if that counts? The lady would prefer experience but she has stated it's not essential, I guess she just wants the right person to trust with her mum while she isn't there?

Hope your mum either accepts help or you find another solution soon xxx

Mike, what a beautifully worded letter, from the heart as always.

I remember in the last thread that you mentioned that it has always been hard to ask for help. I think that, these days, the loss of community makes it harder for us all to ask for help, some more than others. Communities are different now and you found your very own community here on MSE. Thankfully you learned to trust people enough to accept their help, and there lies the truth in all of us asking for help. We need to trust people enough to accept any help offered as it is so easy to offend people when we refuse. I think that we have lost the ability to recognise that but, as you have discovered, it is so easy to upset people. Even a simple thank you can mean the world to somebody. I was once told by a very wise person to say thankyou and then step away. What they meant was I would say thankyou and tag on a reason why I didnt deserve it. For example "that skirt is nice" Thankyou but it only cost £X. I never realised that this would frustrate people. What I am trying to say in my ramble is................ Your "thank you" will mean so much to the team and the friends on here without it being added to.

Thank you for opening your heart to allow in new friends. May you carry on in the same way.
