Did anyone see 'Homes from Hell' last night? I only caught snippets as I was at work, and it was set in Dubai so not quite local, but the idea was the same - yet another builder spending other people's money.

Oops - forum about to close for 'critical maintenance' - must hurry! See you in an hour or so.

Don't be worried SB. I had a backlog of chores and 'stuff' which was shoved to one side prior to our trip. Catching up and preparing to go again on Monday. I lurk a few times a day, but I must switch off for a while.

Will never forget any of you.

MW - Just make sure you do come on from time to time, if only to wind me up.

I watched DIY SOS The Big Build today (OH rang up yesterday while it was on and I had to listen to him rather than Nick Knowles as I was going in for my eye surgery this morning and was freaking a bit!)

Lovely house at end, lovely family and quite reassured by how much they featured film of the supporting people. We may yet make it past the cutting room floor!

What really did it for me. What was terrible (maybe I spent too much time in Mike's bathroom!). Kitchen was just as we said - well staged; red oven gloves placed here, arty use of teapot, no sign of any coffee or tea.SOMEBODY HAD LEFT THE TOILET SEAT UP. Really - who's responsibility was staging the house for viewing.

Ruined the whole programme for me ;)

Serious question....Would JJ be able to post his dodgy builders name or would he be in trouble for it?

Don't think I can, I would if I could :( When I win the case I'm sure I can then.
  • Hi jj are you ok ? hows things with the house ??

    Evening all.

I've been on the new Your Freedom government website. It's.... eerrr... basic. I wish it was more like a forum so the more debated suggestions stayed on the front page. Anyway, one of the sections is called "Restoring civil Liberties" and this is what it's about:

Civil liberties are the basic rights and freedoms that protect an individual. They prevent the state from abusing power or intruding in citizens’ lives unnecessarily. Legislation can help keep people safe, but excessive legislation can erode civil liberties.

We are determined to restore fundamental civil liberties, while still protecting our society. You can read our ideas on how we do this in in Our Programme for Government, but we also really want your views. We hope to include the most constructive of your ideas in our Freedom Bill later in 2010.

    Question

Which current laws would you like to remove or change because they restrict your civil liberties?

Before you post your idea please search to see if someone else has posted your idea already. If they have, you can add your comments. This will help both visitors and moderators track the debate. And remember - we want you to suggest ideas for removing laws and regulations, rather than ideas for creating them.

Now all we need to do is decide how Mike's and others Civil Liberties have been breached, write it up, post it on Your Freedom, comment on it and rate it and then promote it to everyone we know!

Well it's a start. I'll get my thinking cap on again.

Anyway, hope all are well. ooh I'm quite excited for some reason. Must be this new toy the Government have given me! lol

    Be back soon.

  • Going back to scan the old thread. Why does it all have to be so damn confusing? Thought if I re-read the procedures that Mike had to take, only to be told of another door was closed to him, it might help me understand exactly where following the rules falls apart and where the loopholes are.

Even the fact that builders CAN NOT be named??? Bloody bonkers and if I had a dodgy builder I'd be telling EVERYONE I know to avoid him! Slander be damned! I'd slander the little !!!!! all over blooming Hampshire!

Poo....your brain works better than mine.......you lead honey & I'll follow. Having a hot flush! :o

    Great research Poo!

Once we (you or someone cleverer than me!!) work out what we need to say we could mass post to it like we did to the DIY SOS producer? We can then badger people we know to add to that maybe.

SB - We just have to be careful of libel and slander laws when naming and shaming. Dom did us a huge favour by naming Paul Bridle of Horsham but we can't say anything that isn't fact or is not already in the public domain on the forum.

Flippin eck I am sounding serious tonight! Sorry!
