Ok, a few posts back I put about petitioning parliament and the request for people to put forward views on laws, which seems to have been considered favourably. Now i am a little busy this weekend so havent had too much time to do research but I will do my best to help with this where I can. I have been trying to see if there are any cross party groups specifically around the building industry but there are hundreds so need to trawl through them. I came across this Vince Cable and a short debate in November 2009 specifically on cowboy builders. So there is a start, one MP who has an interest in the subject. So he could be our starting point as an MP to lobby for support

As and when I get any time I will do a bit of research and put it onto here. Maybe there is a way that we could gather all of the research into one place and start working on it somehow.
Mmmm I feel a campaign coming on!

Good call Cherisong - Look what Vince Cable does now: Cable was appointed Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills on 12 May 2010.

Eeeeeugh, sorry Butti, I am a bit squeamish about eyes  Well done you though, having the second one done must be a strange experience as you know what to expect! Glad you are healing quick though :)

And I think most of us could all do with some help from the master of words!

As before, if anyone wants me to write something (preferably a template of something you already figured out!) then I'm happy to do it.... just tell me what when who.

I don't have the brain capacity or time to get more involved at the moment, sorry! Will help as much as I can though xx

  • Interesting bit of news.

Trading Standards in Northamptonshire have started a new scheme which allows consumers to check a website for trusted traders.
"Buy with Confidence" helps people find a trader - such as a plumber or builder - who has been fully checked and vetted.
Every trader must also have undergone a basic Criminal Records Bureau check.
So far, 26 traders are on the scheme, with a further 60 due to be assessed.
Councillor Andre Gonzalez de Savage said the scheme was the first of its kind in the county and would help people "find a trusted and reputable trader".
Those accepted on the scheme must pass stringent checks including examination of past complaints, county court judgements, credit rating, company details, director's background and credit licensing.
yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift thats why its called the present ;)

Seems the forum on the whole has been very quiet over the weekend - my laptop has gone in for "repair" cos couldn't link up on Saturday to the internet and they think it needs updating!!! £30 so far and hopefully will have it back over next couple of days, so can only log on when in the office. Anyways up for lobbying anyone so keep me in the loop. Hope you had a great weekend Mike with the boys. I would like to have had more me time and can't yet get to grips as to why rather large ladies want to have a bra fit on the hottest days when they are all hot and sweaty - get the picture!!:rotfl:Billie xx
