    Okay, she has also said he has to give one month's notice to the council to give up his council flat. They've decided they are now a couple, whether living apart or under the same roof, she refers to him as her 'partner'. Wonder if she's changed her status with the various agencies yet? Doubt it - she's on here trying to ensure that she times it so that she doesn't go without in the meantime, hence her discussions on having to feed the kids on bread and water for however long.
    Wonder how long it'll take for her to report the latest 'change in circumstances'.

    Well would you rather she reported the changes before they happen?

    Most people would tend to report them, at or just prior to the moving in period.

    Or do people move in together without having a period of being a couple beforehand?:rotfl:

    She has already said they ARE a couple - said she wouldn't refer to him as an 'ex' as he is her 'partner'......a couple is made up of patners....so she sees him as a 'partner' hence she's not single - despite the fact that he hasn't moved in as yet.

    Poppy - you might want to look up and see what determins a 'couple' for benefits and CTC purposes then - so if you ever find yourself in that situation, you don't make a very costly error :)
  • I find it repulsive how you have treated this woman. All she asked was a question / for advice and instead got abuse. I will be reporting certain members of this forum to the moderators. None of you have rights to judge this person it it a disgrace.

    I have a son with ADHD and understand what she is going through, I just hope none of you have to bring up a disabled child.

    That's right, well done. Most people are a couple for a while before they move in.

    People do not, on the whole, date someone on the Saturday then chance their WTC to "couple" on the monday. Hence there is usually a period that even the benefits agency (Yes, you know those people who deal with this all the time, and regularly accept people CAN have relationships without being a "couple" for many benefit purposes).

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Credit for not further ripping off those who support them?
    Credit for doing the 'right' thing?

    How strange

    Completely agree. But I like to think that 'grace period' of claiming to be single when you're actually a couple is pretty short when it involves the father of your 3 children whom you've previously been in a realtionship with.

    Aren't you also assuming the OP has only just got back with her partner rather than however many weeks/months/years it could have been?

    Thankfully, I cant ever see myself being in this position now.We live together as a couple and have children and have run our own business for the last 20 years.I hate the benefits culture, but I do not agree with the way this Op has been treated.
