Brill news to hear youve finall got payment.icklejulez wrote: »Well I rang up this morning and my payment has gone through however can anyone explain how you work out childcare as I think they have got it completely wront. I was initially told my payments should be approx £185pw which sounded high but couldnt complain.
My kids are at nursery in a school so £116.75 over 40 weeks a year so in my opinion £89.80pw when divided over 52 weeks.
However when I rang Im now only getting £65pw (which i cant live off) and they say childcare is divided over 30 weeks as its over less time. Surely this cant be the correct way of working this out???
but sorry to hear tohear its not correct. Im not sure how child care works.Hopefully some 1 on ere might goodluck xxwon a chinese cookbook and Le Creuset Roasting Dish, Le Creuset Oven Gloves, a potato peeler, a bottle of Filippo Berio Mild & Light Olive Oil and a hamper containing all of Albert Bartlett's finest root vegetables.0

They had last years details so I informed them of my new income for this year this morning. Its the childcare element I dont understand. I thought £185 was a bit hopefull but on every website I calculated ot said to work out the average childcare costs per week over a 52 week period so why are they saying they've only based it over a 30 week period. It doesnt make sense at all...Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
 £11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

Child care is paid to 80% of the cost (so cost £116 would be £92.80 - split that over 52 weeks is 71.38 based on attendance 40 weeks or 53.53 based on 30 weeks attendance - have a look http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/wtc5.pdf - if they attend 40 weeks then I would have thought it should be calculated on the 40 weeks averaged over 52 at 80%.
Don't think that makes much sense does it ?LegalBeagles0

None of it makes any sense to me lol, they've got perfect attendance so Im not sure. I can understand if they say 30 weeks this remaining tax year but surely it shouldnt then be divided by 52 weeks?
They make it so complicated no one knows how to work it out. It just seems extraordinarily low...Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

My partner left me on 9th of June, we were due over £400 on 23rd June, but like yourself thought that i would be honest and let them know. I have been told it can take 3 weeks, 5 weeks and another person from Tax Credits said that there is not a limit to the time it takes. I have not been able to pay my rent and have had the local authorities on my back. I've had to borrow money from everywhere as didn't even have bus fare to work.
It's painfully enough when your relationship breaks down, but it's unbelievable that it takes so long to sort out.
Good luck with your claim and I hope they sort it soon for you.

what was the start date of the childcare? if it was only recently then your childcare entitlement wont cover 52 weeks because it has started 3 months in to the tax year.0
