so sorry - must be a horrible shock. definitely talk to CAB though - 2 days notice seems illegal and he has to be eligible for redundancy after 16 years - worth questioning and fighting even though that's probably the last thing he feels like doing now...
many hugs0 -
Sending you my best wishes, and I hope your husband find ssomething soon. But I have to agree with other posters on here, I would speak to the CAB or look at the acas website for information about redundancy and the proper procedures that should be followed.
Good Luck! And let us know how you get on!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109

Hi there - was your OH self-employed? If so, he isn't entitled to redundancy pay. If you're not sure, check whether he or his 'employer' paid his stamp and tax.
While he's looking for work, he could advertise in the local papers and shops to do joinery and carpentry jobs just to tide him over ...Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Look at the Acas website and ring them if necessary I have always found them to be most helpful over the phone.0

yep after 16 years it's statutory redundancy at least. Unless he's been paid cash in hand then it's easy to prove he's an employee. As you've got a mortgage I'm guessing he's got a fixed income and it's provable thoughDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

So sorry that you're having to go through this. Your husband should be entitled to some redundency. I would speak to the CAB and acas. Also check out the direct.gov website as they have info on redundency including a calculator to tell you how much you are entitled too.
Hope this helps.Keep Calm:cool: Smile, Enjoy!

As a Joiner with 16 years experience, chances are he knows a fair bit about the work needed etc, a redundancy needn't be the end, it may well be the very beginning for his own business. It happened to me and at the time it was terrible with three kids, with the little girl being born 2 dyas earlier but now I am glad it did, I had to take stock of what it was I could and couldn't do and then utilise my strengths. Good Luck0
