What would you do re this message from seller?

Aw, thanks so much for your concern, George. I really appreciate it.
I started my disputes on 19 June, but it says that the seller has 10 days to respond, so I don't believe that I can escalate them until that time is up.
I think you have escalated it? If you have a full chargeback in then that is all you can do, if you had merely opened a basic dispute then you would have needed to escalate immediatelyThanks, GeeGee and 1984, too.
I think she has sent these messages out because she is afraid. She's likely to lose a lot of money and is probably frightened that the rest of the buyers will claim so that she will lose more. The thing is, though, that we were completely unaware that she was acting as a selling agent and, as I said before, there's no way I would have touched the auction with a bargepole if I'd known. We shouldn't have to pay for someone else's mistake.
The seller was particularly naive if she was drop shipping and paying for all the stuff without protecting herself.1984ReturnsForReal wrote: »She won't lose anything.
Maybe her credit rating for a while but I don't think Ebay do credit checks so she will be up & running again in no time.
She says thta her funds are frozen, even if paypal only froze a small percentage of them then she's lost that and they will hunt her down and harrass her for the rest. She also has a horde of buyers baying for blood, a group of annoyed people all of whom have her personal name and address plus phone number must be a worry. Whilst most of us are probably too nice to set up a campaign of harrassment can you imagine what it would be like if just one person went on a spree? A subtle campaign of harrassment would certainly worry me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin - The wording states: "Item not received case is now open". Does this mean that it has been escalated, please? There doesn't appear to be any way of doing anything else to it at the moment and it simply says, "The seller has 10 days to respond". If I remember rightly (I've only done this once before, ages ago), ebay then makes its decision after the 10 days have passed if the case hasn't been resolved/closed by then. Is that correct, please?
Yes, she must certainly have been rather naive. She'll have all of the FVF's to pay as well, I'd imagine, and the shipping.
I'm also worried about the other buyers who haven't raised a dispute yet. They could well be put off doing so by her latest messages. I do think that was either completely clueless or extremely naughty of her.
The thing is, when I bought the first item from her first auction, it stated that there were 10 available, but the auction was set up so that I could only buy one. She then messaged me to ask if I wanted to buy any more, offering to invoice me for the other purchases as she had made a mistake when setting up the auction. However, because I'm extremely wary of off-ebay sales (particularly with a seller with whom I've never dealt before), I told her that I would like to buy a further 2, but would wait until she created another auction to do so. I'm really glad I did wait now as it's all on record and has gone through the proper channels.

With her last email asking people not to claim & also her trying to get people to trade off ebay, is she in on it, or has a scammer been scammed? Also, if she's working with ebay & paypal why hasn't she responded?
Also she says that she's employed by them, does that mean she was on PAYE, I wonder?
Has anyone been able to find out anything from googling the name of the company? I've gone through about 4 pages of google & there's nothing.
The address is registered as a fish & chip shop but could be a flat above I guess.
Am I the only one who thinks the seller sounds dodgy?0 -
I must admit, that's worrying me a bit now, hermum.
Also, do you think I should add the latest 2 email messages, advising buyers not to open disputes to the information in my own dispute cases?0 -
Personally I would, Soolin & the other experts may say not. Have you checked of Goofbay or her feedback to see who else has bought similar items from you & contacted them to see if they are having the same problems.
I would be most concerned as she's trying to get you onboard, "I have also been scammed & this is going to cost me dear etc etc". Yes she may have been scammed but unfortunately for her that is not your problem.
You need to do everything that you can for your claim.
She was either employed & an employee, or acting as an agent, she's saying that she's both.
Maybe in the emergency budget a tax on stupidy could be levied, we would soon be on the road to recovery. Recession, what recession.
I'm not including you in that madget, you bought, sorry paid for something in good faith.
If I was offered a job or a role as an agent for a company the first thing I would do if I hadn't heard of them would be to google them. Nothing seems to be showing up for this "company".
I wouldn't have any contact with the seller at all but would forward all emails, messages to ebay or paypal, whoever you opened the dispute with.
If she's in contact with paypa &l ebay then it shouldn't still be saying waiting for her response.
In a minute after she's soft soaped you she'll offer a refund if you close the case against her. Then you won't ever hear from her again if you do it.
As you can tell some bar steward knocked off my rose tinted specs.0 -
Good luck madget i hope you have your money back soon. She does sound very dodgy but i agree with you it's hard to know it's it's cluelessness or naughtyness!
But if she's an experienced ebayer she should know herself that it's dodgy to ask her buyers not to open a dispute.0 -
I used to have a pair of those glasses too, hermum. Mine were similarly dislodged!
I've added this information to my dispute and have sent ebay a message, giving the seller's last two messages and outlining my concerns. Actually, I've now realised that the seller will see the bit I added to my dispute, but it's too late to do anything about that now, unfortunately. From now on, I'll just keep in touch with ebay or paypal directly, though.0 -

I think that only dealing direct with ebay-paypal is good.
Just now I said about googling for info, this thread comes up. The seller could be reading all this anyway.
I'm sure if she's been scammed she would be searching for info herself & so am surprised that she hasn't either answered on here or started another thread.0 -
Yes, I also thought that.
I believe that the company did have a website, but that's disappeared into the ether. Perhaps they read the thread, too!
Well, at least after an experience like this, she should be on her guard never to fall for the same selling agent scam again. As I said before, I do genuinely feel sorry for her and don't think she was actually part of the scam - but I feel more sorry for any buyers who might miss out on getting their money back if they don't raise a dispute.0 -
