I know, Soolin. Ebay really should send out a general warning message every so often to warn sellers of this scam. If people were aware of it, then it might help to stop the scamming scumbags. In fact, I shall contact ebay to suggest this - not sure whether they'll take any notice, but it's worth a try. If anyone else wants to do this, too, the more people who bring their concerns about this to ebay's attention, the more likely they are to take action.

I rather fear that people who ar elikely to be scammed are the same people that don't bother reading the various warnings that get issued. It's the same with the paypal on collection scam, the warnings are there for anyone to see but I think sellers must get blinded by the idea of money and just go for it.

Poster above, you really need to alter your nickname. Up here in Manchester, it reads like an insult. Unless it's intentional?

I thought it was a brilliant nickname macfly, being an exiled Manc, never thought it might not mean a mad get. :D

No, it's just a play on my email address and the word "gadget"! I come from the northeast and we use the word "get", too. The combination never dawned on me until I read your post, ootie. I was wondering what the heck macfly meant! :o

Ah well, I suppose my husband would argue that it probably suits me well at times. :D

I suspect you're probably right, soolin. Still, I do think that ebay should at least try warning them as this seems to be becoming more widespread.

It just makes me so mad that scammers get away with things like this and I want to do something - even if it stops only a very few people from falling for it, it'd be worth it.

You are quite right in that the only way we can stop these scum bags is to make people aware of them. However if you follow some of the threads on here people are willing to take some enormous risks and use services like ebay paypal and even RM without even basic knowledge of how they work.

I suggest we continue to debate on threads like this as that brings it to the attention of more people, but we also need to make sure that people we are friends with or work with are also aware that they must use some common sense with any service they plan to use. Educate the people before it is too late.

Well said, Soolin. The only winners with these business schemes are the scammers themselves. Education can be a very powerful weapon, providing people take heed of it.

That's the trouble. Most come on here having fallen foul of a scam. Others not quite taken in, but don't want to take the advice. The rest of us are the ones shaking our heads.

As suspected, the company is now non-contactable and here are the 2 latest updates from my seller. I'm so pleased I filed my disputes when I did, after your good advice:

"I am writing to inform you that unfortunately the company I had been working for (and who your orders were placed to ) appears to have become uncontactable since you have placed the orders ( this also includes to myself as I was just a selling agent employed by them and they are not responding to myself either ) Since the orders were placed and paid for I have numerous messages from customers stating that they have not received orders. The company appears to now not be answering calls or emails and because of this I have become worried that something has gone wrong. (perhaps receivership etc I am not sure) Because some people? s money ( who had already been sent to the company and is not in the paypal account ) have lodged disputes via ebay this has now put a hold on funds and thus not allowing me to give refunds at present ( I have tried to speak to paypal about this and they are keeping me updated ) Because of this and I feel something is not right with the company I have today been to the police and logged a case on myself and all of you ( as customers) behalf. If anyone would like to check this they can call: xxxxxx, the officer is xxx and the incident ref is: xxx
(The station is xxxxxx)

The company (my employer) that I have filed the complaint against is:
Saver Limited, t/a saver-express. Their address listed as : 147 Chase side , Enfield, Middlesex, EN2 OPN and tel : 08713152576 email : tina@saver-express.com or info@saver-express.com
"

"I am very sorry to you all but unfortunately I was just an employee and when some of you started messaging me stating things had not been delivered I started to become suspicious and now that they seem to be not responding to my queries etc I decided it was time to take it to the police. I have spoken to ebay and paypal and they will be fully cooperating with the police when asked , however paypal has requested that you do not log an ebay dispute, because when you do this monies in the paypal become frozen and do not allow refunds to be made. I have spoken to paypal and for the monies still available they should be able to issue refunds over the next 7-10 days (this as long as no more disputes are logged as if they are, monies will be frozen and we cannot refund) The company has some of the funds already in their business account and this is why I have contacted the police.

I apologise again, any further queries feel free to check with the named police officer above or to try to contact the company ( good luck ! )

I will message people to keep them updated on refunds, for now I am waiting on police feedback to give to paypal to enable me to do this."

As some wise people suspected this woman is the victim of a scam but is she right in her talk about Paypal freezing funds and stopping repayments.

Won't Paypal refund when claims are made putting her account into arrears if necessary?

Hi madget it sounds to me from the messages your seller is sending you that soolin was right in an earlier post and that your seller does not have a clue how either ebay or paypal will handle this.
Please madget tell me you have put in your dispute and escalated it to a claim I need to know this so I know that you will be refunded even if the seller has no funds in their account paypal will still refund you and then chase the seller for the money so you will not be out of pocket this is why all sellers pay paypal fees.
The seller is only right about one thing in their messages to you, that you will be refunded and as I said before the dealings between the seller and this dodgy dropshipping company have nothing to do with you and are not your problem so just ignore the messages your seller is sending you and make your claim through paypal.
