As some wise people suspected this woman is the victim of a scam but is she right in her talk about Paypal freezing funds and stopping repayments.

Won't Paypal refund when claims are made putting her account into arrears if necessary?

That's exactly what I was wondering, martindow. She can't be right, can she?

I wouldn't be surprised if she is in on it.

A couple of things she wrote are not in order.

Don't know about the paypal thing but they are hardly likely to let her be in control of who gets refunded.

Carry on with your PayPal and eBay claims, PayPal should refund you. I'm afraid to say the rest is the sellers look out..

Aw, thanks so much for your concern, George. I really appreciate it.

I started my disputes on 19 June, but it says that the seller has 10 days to respond, so I don't believe that I can escalate them until that time is up.

    Thanks, GeeGee and 1984, too.

I think she has sent these messages out because she is afraid. She's likely to lose a lot of money and is probably frightened that the rest of the buyers will claim so that she will lose more. The thing is, though, that we were completely unaware that she was acting as a selling agent and, as I said before, there's no way I would have touched the auction with a bargepole if I'd known. We shouldn't have to pay for someone else's mistake.

    She won't lose anything.

Maybe her credit rating for a while but I don't think Ebay do credit checks so she will be up & running again in no time.

Hi madget keep checking and escalate as soon as you can and paypal will then ask the seller for proof of delivery if the seller has none then paypal will refund you regardless of how much is in the sellers account.
As I said before this seller seems totally clueless and is thinking just because there is nothing in their account and their account is frozen that paypal will not refund buyers.
Paypal will refund all buyers who claim their money back then they will chase the seller for the money that the seller owes paypal for the refunds using a debt collecting agency.

As some people on this forum have found out ebay and paypal are not stupid and normally when you open a new account they wait untill the new account has enough cash in it then link the old and new accounts together and put a hold on the cash you have made from the new account untill the debt from the old account has been paid in full.

It goes by a number of things not just name your IP address for example will track you far more accuratly than a name will, and remember in the paypal terms and conditions paypal can freeze any paypal account that they want and they don't even have to give an account holder a good reason to do this.
Some peoples paypal accounts have been frozen just because they moved house and into a house that once had a paypal account attached to it that owed paypal money.
