I've just been reading through this thread and I too was almost duped by

"Saver Limited, t/a saver-express. Their address listed as : 147 Chase side , Enfield, Middlesex, EN2 OPN and tel : 08713152576 email : tina@saver-express.com or info@saver-express.com "

I was acting as a seller for the above. Basically I would list the items through my paypal account and receive 10% of the sale.

However, after I had sold 6 items which totalled £300 I became suspicious of the above company. The lady "Tina" whom I dealt with was hardly ever available to answer the phone, she did not respond to my e-mails and there was no way that I was going to forward the £300 on to her without knowing for certain that the buyers had received their goods.

So I removed the listing and refunded all payments to the buyers. This ended up with me out of pocket by about £35 due to fees. But after reading this it appears that I had a lucky escape.

Unfortuantely with so much done over the internet these days sometimes people can be fooled... and I stupidly was one of them.

:(
Hi Zoold - i have just been going through the same - only 'Tina' is with Select n Save this time and i answered an ad in gumtree......seller with 100% feedback wanted to sell goods for 10% of sell price etc.
I have been stupid enough to go along with it and now lost money, paypal is wrecked and bank account blocked. I am keen to highlight this in everyway possible to help others avoid this and have been in touch with police, TS, newspapers and only hope they are found and pay for scamming.
My ebay buyers have been so patient with the whole thing even tho they don't know i am not the person scamming them, but it is to their credit they have actually be supportive.

Hi phoenix5,

Sorry to hear about your experience with them. I'm just thankful that I did not forward any money to them.

I have saved all the e-mails I received from them but I did not report them to anyone as I was just glad that I managed to refund the buyers which as I said did cost me £35 in fees.

I just hope they get caught and no one else falls victim to them.

:)

Seems there at it again under new name(s), just seen this on the jobcentre website, wonder if anyone can trace these people, i have read an article after googling of more victims of this scam. i think advertising in the job centre gives the job seeker a false sense of trust.

Ebay job scam

heres the article on more who have been scammed

Just how many more people being scammed by these scumbags will it take before someone actually does something about it? I've very disappointed in the Police and the Job Centre as they seem perfectly happy to let this go on without intervention.

I know what you mean someone has to take responsibilty for some of it, i thought the jobcentre had to vett jobs but seems not, its not right and they should be held accountable for some of it, its just going to get worse, these scammers are making a mint.

Especially now as people are more desperate for extra cash and will do anything to pay the bills......makes my blood boil  And if you notice a lot of the scammed are stay at home mums looking for work to fit with the kids.

I bought 3 items in 2 separate ebay auctions on 4 June from one seller, who seems nice, polite and has always answered my messages to her.

I waited until 15 June to contact the seller and she replied with this:

"Sorry I sent a message around but may have forgotten to paste you in, my apologies.

Basically paypal did not clear all the payments and this put a slight delay on things. Have managed to sort it and your items were posted on Saturday. It was saying some people hadn't paid etc. Items should be with you this week.

So sorry for delay"

So they were, according to the seller, posted on Saturday, 12 June.

As I have still not received my items, I contacted her again this morning, and this was her reply, which is worrying me now as I had not realised that she was a selling agent. And why did she leave the company?

"I am so sorry about this I don't understand what has gone wrong. I actually no longer work for the company ( i was just a selling agent) and I don't understand what has happened. I will call them first thing monday and find out and advise them that you are unhappy and want tracking numbers etc and will ask about refunds as I really don't understand whats happened. Last I spoke to them all items had been despatched. I would also urge you to send and email of complaint , just so they can register how unhappy you have been with their service to tina@saver-express.com and the company is called Saver Limited in Enfield, London and their number is 08713152576 . But I will also call the office first thing monday and then send you a message back, so sorry on their behalf."

Does this seem suspicious to you? I spent a total of £150 on these items and am now becoming more and more concerned.

What would you do in these circumstances? Would you wait until Monday and contact the firm she mentions?

Any advice would be gratefully received, please.
Yes, of course it is suspicious and no I would not wait until Monday. Open a case. Protect your money should be the first order of the day.

What's her being so nice got to do with anything. When you buy on eBay you get buyer's protection, thank goodness, from nonsense like this. The problems she's contacting you with have absolutely nothing to do with you. They're all her problems and it's up to her to sort it.

Yes, clairibel. Very sadly, it's often those who need the money most who are taken in by scammers like this.

I just hope that as much publicity as possible (it's great that the story has now appeared in a newspaper) will be given to these cases. Not only will it help to warn others, it might also give the Job Centre and the Police the kick up the bum they need in order to put a stop to it.

Thanks for trying to help, botanical but, as soolin says, my particular case is now resolved and I did get my money back.

Unfortunately, these scamming companies are still hard at work duping other people, though.

Hello all,

Sorry to resurrect the thread again, but I have bad news. This scam is still going on! I was one of the unfortunate jobseekers who had been out of work for months and was desperate for a job. After taking several rejections and knockbacks, receiving a job offer like this was amazing. I initially had so much trust in the company because of the channels I got it through - the Jobcentre. As a govt. run agency trying to help people back into good work, I naturally assumed all jobs that were advertised on their website were checked and vetted. How silly of me! I also checked the company registration number out which was legitmate and matched the address. I had never sold on Ebay before, only ever used it as a buyer. I checked ALL the seller info pages before I listed the items. There was NO info on how risky drop shipping is and potential scams. Considering how many people have been affected, this is a disgrace. I let all the buyers know what had happened imediately and told them all to open cases so they could get their money back and leave it to me to sort it out with Ebay/Paypal. Now I know how many other people have been scammed, it makes me sick the responses I have gotten from both of them. But what makes me really angry? If I had seen this job advertised in a paper or on some website, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near it. But because of the trust I had in the jobcentre, I assumed it was all legit. Anyway, the point of me writing on here is to alert people that lots of others have been scammed and a group effort is being made to bring awareness via media journalists and the BBC's Watchdog and the One Show. If you would like to be involved please email me at f9099508@bournemouth dot ac dot uk and I'll forward you all the info I have, as well as some advice I have to any other jobseekers who were caught in the scam on how to get compensation to cover the debts! The more voices we get, the further we can advance the cause, so please speak up! :)
