What would you do re this message from seller?

Options
I bought 3 items in 2 separate ebay auctions on 4 June from one seller, who seems nice, polite and has always answered my messages to her.

I waited until 15 June to contact the seller and she replied with this:

"Sorry I sent a message around but may have forgotten to paste you in, my apologies.

Basically paypal did not clear all the payments and this put a slight delay on things. Have managed to sort it and your items were posted on Saturday. It was saying some people hadn't paid etc. Items should be with you this week.

So sorry for delay"

So they were, according to the seller, posted on Saturday, 12 June.

As I have still not received my items, I contacted her again this morning, and this was her reply, which is worrying me now as I had not realised that she was a selling agent. And why did she leave the company?

"I am so sorry about this I don't understand what has gone wrong. I actually no longer work for the company ( i was just a selling agent) and I don't understand what has happened. I will call them first thing monday and find out and advise them that you are unhappy and want tracking numbers etc and will ask about refunds as I really don't understand whats happened. Last I spoke to them all items had been despatched. I would also urge you to send and email of complaint , just so they can register how unhappy you have been with their service to tina@saver-express.com and the company is called Saver Limited in Enfield, London and their number is 08713152576 . But I will also call the office first thing monday and then send you a message back, so sorry on their behalf."

Does this seem suspicious to you? I spent a total of £150 on these items and am now becoming more and more concerned.

What would you do in these circumstances? Would you wait until Monday and contact the firm she mentions?

Any advice would be gratefully received, please.

Personally I would wait until the end of Monday then if no satisfactory response put a Paypal claim through. It sounds like excuses to me.

I'm not even sure I woudl wait until monday, I might just be tempted to put in a paypal claim now as that still gives the seller 10 days to get it sorted out.

    Thanks, cyberbob and Soolin.

Soolin - would you let the seller know that you'd put in a claim? She seems so nice, so I'd feel a little guilty about doing it without telling her. However, I definitely don't want to risk losing my money.

Ah, just read your second post, Bob. So you agree with Soolin. I think I might just do a claim now.

    Thanks, both of you.

Madget, the seller will get notified that a claim has been opened and told that she either needs to prove delivery ro refund, but she has 10 days to do either.

I agree with Soolin, I would start a paypal dispute for items not received, literally the minute before I did, just out of courtesy I would email the seller just saying you are covering your own back as you have no wish to lose £150 so have lodged a Paypal dispute, this will up the pressure a little, regardless of the seller trying to "third party" blame it was her you dealt with and her who received your money the buck stops with her at the end of the day.

You could email the company concerned to be thorough and see if they can cast any more light on the situation but if it all goes pear shaped it is the seller you will need to recoup your losses from, start that dispute as has been said she then has 10 days to sort it all out for you, if nothing else it will get her full attention ;)

I've been ever so worried about it, so I'd just like to thank you all very much indeed for your help - Bob, Soolin and UnderPressure. It's really helpful to get a bit of support and advice, especially as I know you all have a such a lot of experience with ebay.

UnderPressure - I have messaged the seller, as you suggested. I get the feeling that she is genuine and feel sorry for her if the selling company is causing all of these problems. Again, I do wonder why she left? But still, I have no wish to lose my money.

I'll update when I hear of any further developments. (I hate those threads when you never find out what happened in the end! ;-) )

No problem glad I could be of help although I only really re-iterated what others had said.

So far as seeming genuine, well TBH she maybe but on the other hand most scammers seem plausable that is why people fall for their little scams, the definitive answer lies with the dropshipper so might not be a bad idea to shoot them an email either way get that paypal dispute opened at least then you know your not going to be out of pocket at some stage ;)

I'm sorry, I'm back with another question. Just received 2 more emails from the seller, the last one asking for my telephone number. Should I give it to her? Am I starting to get over-paranoid on worrying about giving her my number? Thanks again for any advice you can give me.

    First message:

"No I completely understand and I am going to level with you here, I have just rang the met police in enfield and logged a possible case as I dont understand what is going on and they have given me a case number and told me that I have to give the company until 5pm on Monday to respond to me and my queries about your order and one other persons , the police woman advised that it could be that the company are suffering financial difficulty but if that is the case they should not have asked me to sell products or taken the funds for them , but if I don't hear back on monday I have to go into the station with the case number and log it as a crime. I have told the police everything and I have all the companies details, address, numbers, and I also have their business account details as that is where your money went ( I only ever got 10% commission on anything I sold ) So if they do not respond by monday and I don't get a suitable answer from them I will take the case forward. The police told me that as I have all their details then it wouldn't be hard for them to check it out and follow it up. So sorry about this, I just cannot believe the company have behaved like this. But I fully understand, I am going to contact ebay aswell, but I will message you on monday to let you know what info I have."

    Second message:

"I just checked the cases you opened now, so sorry about all this. Do you have a number I can call you on ? I am just thinking that in the worst case scenario when if i have to go to the police on monday to open the case they may just want to check with you how much you sent etc to back up my paypal screenshots ( to prove you are a real person etc ) "
