Hi,

ive just come across this thread and have only read the first 2 pages at present so im not sure if the problem has been resolved but.. THE EXACT SAME THING happened to me except i was the seller. This is a genuine scam! I was employed by "saver express" to sell BT motorbike blue-tooth headsets on their behalf for a 10% profit. I transferred all the money across to them for them to then end contact with me. Ebay and paypal are now demanding X amount of money back which i just dont have. Im from sheffield so have contacted the South Yorkshire police and I am going through the motions of this been a claim. This thread will hopefully help prove that im not the scammer but also a victim of the scam.

Unfortunately as you are almost certainly aware you do need to refund the buyers and if that puts your paypal balance into negative figures they will persue you for the debt. It's awful that it will come to that, but paypal do have an obligation to make sure the buyers don't lose out as they were entirely dependent on you. Unfortunately their protection will not apply to you unless you have anyway at all of charging back th epayments you forwarded on.

How did you send the money onto the company, did you actually pay them for services or did you send it as a gift?

10% profit really isn't much. If this wasn't a scam was it really worth 10% to list and have all the hassle? The first thing with these offers is why are they not listing themselves?

Soolin i'm afraid has summed it up your are liable for the refunds owed to the buyers.

And another one! She does seem very nice, but I really don't like giving my telephone number out to people...

"And again I am so sorry about all of this and You will get your money back even if I have to give it back to you myself and then wait for the police to get it back from them, I will do that as I feel so bad. If you have a number I can call you on that would be great"

She can get your phone number anyway by asking Ebay for your contact details quite quickly and easily online. There's an option for doing that.

I already have my money back, prettypeach. The thread was started a while ago, but has just been updated because some more sellers have been scammed since then.

Hi Madget

Am sorry to hear of your predicament. I have recently sold products on behalf of a company called select n save, who have now disappeared and left me with no money or products....to save boring u with the details, in short, i have been in touch with my buyers, who have been very patient about the whole thing, but because of all this my paypal and connecting bank accounts have been blocked and on top of this, i have no money to reimburse the buyers.

Maybe ur seller is going through the same? I would advise anyway that u make a claim against the seller, which will enable u to get ur money back more quickly as i don't think it will be an easy fix. You will get ur money back from paypal and they will seek reimbursement from the seller.

Wishing u all the best. xx

Thanks, phoenix5, but I already have my money back. This thread was started a while ago, but has been resurrected because of other victims of these scammers.

I wonder whether your company is the same as saver-express, but going under a different name now? It might be a good idea for you to liaise with the other sellers who've been scammed as you may stand a better chance of stopping these people and possibly getting your money back.

In any case, I'm sorry to hear that you've also been scammed. I wonder just how many people they've conned and how much money they've thieved from them?

I have just been scammed by this company too.

I've reported it with actionfraud.org.uk, insolvency.gov.uk and consumerdirect.gov.uk and my local police.

I've also spoken with Crimestoppers but the only advice I've been given to recover the money is to sue them in a small claims court.

Do you know of any other methods?

For phoenix5 and others, if you could also file a report with Action Fraud it would be a great help in their investigations. The more info they receive, the easier it is to build a case.

I am going through a right carry on with a woman called tina - only the company now appears to be select n save. She says she won't and can't give me my money back until i send her a screen shot of my bank account as proof that i paid her..?! i am maybe being overly cautious but def not keen to do this as she has also asked and got a screenshot of my paypal.
the whole thing has turned into a nightmare and i wonder if this is the same 'tina'.

I suspect that it most probably is, unfortunately.

Since you're able to contact her at the moment, I'd pass her details onto the Police. Also, let them know about the other cases mentioned on this and the other thread, plus the possibility that these 2 companies are one and the same.

Actually, I don't know whether it might help, but maybe getting in touch with a scambusting investigative team from one of the tabloids might help? It would be even better if all of you sellers who've been conned could make a concerted effort to contact the same tabloid to show them the scale of the problem.

I've done a quick Google and found this:

Daily Mirror
Our investigators Andrew Penman and Nick Sommerlad are here to expose injustice, so if you've been ripped off, they want to know about it. Help them to help you by including your full name, address and a daytime phone number in an email to investigate@mirror.co.uk

Many years ago, I had problems with my broadband provider and contacted the Daily Mirror (even though I don't actually read it). There was a different investigating journalist back then, but he was incredibly helpful and managed to get my money back for me.
