There are numerous "comparison" sites. It's easy to forget that you need to dig a LOT depper because those sites make money through your orders and are mainly interested in getting you to buy via the links they provide. The best offers involve cashback and NO-ONE should enter into ANY of those without a LOT of care and time researching THOROUGHLY - or you may end up in a queue of angry punters who didn't do those things BEFOREHAND.0

this is a warning for all mobileshop.com customers. I have not managed to get my cashback either, i have constantly been told that the computer systems are broken which is apparently complete rubbish. A friend of mine knows someone who works at mobileshop and they said that the company is going bust. apparently the guys who run it are moving everything they want into a diffent business and are going to close mobileshop to avoid paying their debts of cashback and something to do with tax. The mobileshop.com website is now owned by value comparison limited (check it out for yuorself). there is apparently now a massive for sale sign up at the front of their offices. If you haven't already got you're cash back I think you can wave it goodbye0

3 years ago mobileshop were the best and then they had their problems complete with lame excuses. Since that time I and many others saw the writing on the wall and concluded that it was only a matter of time before the inevitable occurred. If they do go bust I must admit that they lasted longer than I expected. It is just a shame that there will be many customers who are cheated out of their cashbacks.0

I also agree that they lasted longer than expected if they do go bust.
To be honest, anyone taking out a deal after the warning signs was taking a big risk. But when they were good, they were very good.
Of late they have just been using affiliate links and it would not make sense using them and losing out on cashback offered via Quidco etc.

This posting is completely incorrect. We understand some customers will be disenchanted with the delays they have experienced and again, we apologise. At the same time, it is important that customers understand the facts.
Mobileshop is in sound financial health and is not in danger of failing.
Mobileshop is not owned by Value Comparison Ltd. Mobileshop is a client of Value Comparison Ltd and receives certain outsourced IT services.
The reason there is a 'For Sale' sign at the offices is that the business is relocating to City premises.
Mobileshop plans to continue to pay valid cashback claims and has done so throughout 2008 where we faced severe IT challenges. We are working through those challenges and aim to continue to improve our service in 2009.0 -

How can you say that?
Many, many of us have experienced similar problems.
Yet as soon as a LBA/County Court Summons is threatened/issued, your IT problems vanish and we get paid out in full before the case gets to court!
Also, you admit your premises are up for sale as jcorgi posted.
Are value comparison ltd also moving (they appear to have the same premises as you, according to Companies House)?
Maybe you would like to apologise to jcorgi for your sweeping condemnation that his post is "completely incorrect"?Mobileshop plans to continue to pay valid cashback claims and has done so throughout 2008 where we faced severe IT challenges
You have a very poor recollection of events - you say you experienced these problems just this year - but the first report of your "IT" problems in this thread was actually posted in September 2006!0 -

I sent a couple letters last week in an attempt to get the remaining £160 that Mobileshop.com owes me. Today I got confirmation e-mails stating that the money should be in my account within 3-7 days.
So if you have cashback overdue to you, ignore the message above and claim it.
Yes, it is annoying that we now have to threaten legal action just to get what is owed to us, but at least we get that money. I can think of a number of examples from the last few years (airline failures, ISPs going bust, etc) where people got nothing.
I've now given up on cashback deals. Too much hassle. Instead, I have a Virgin contract for £10 a month.0 -
Yesterday I was round my friends house and I got to speak to the person who is now sadly been laid off by mobileshop and was asking them all about this. There has never been any computer problems, this was just an excuse to delay the claims. There has been an off the record policy of only paying people who complained continuously or took them to court, now I know this I will be sending them a letter myself to get the £150 I am owed.
Value Comparison Ltd is owned by pretty much the same people who run mobileshop.com, I looked it up on the internet and was only established last year so the fact the mobileshop.com domain is now owned by them means it must have been moved since then, some of the workers who used to work for mobileshop are now working for value comparison in the same building too. The business is even registered at the same address as mobileshop.com.
If you check their website http://www.valuecomparisonltd.co.uk you can see nearly all their customers are actually mobileshop.com. Apparently mobileshop have also got a team of their own internet folks who develop the home site so what 'services' exactly value comparison limited are providing I'm not sure.
I notice my original post brought the bear out of the woods to cover themselves but didn't offer to help me out with my cash back claim.
Sadly in the last three weeks mobileshop have laid off at least 10 staff including all the people in their call center as well as others. Doesnt sound like a business thats 'financially sound' to me. I don't like been called 'completely untrue' when actually what I've heard is quite accurate judging by their response.
I'm getting my cashback then shopping elsewhere.0
