    Hello

I am writing to thank everyone on this thread whose post helped me get my cashback from mobileshop. I bought a phone in November 06 and always sent my claims on time. I usually asked for Argos gift cards as I needed to buy from Argos anyway and they were better value than cash. They were always sent out on time. On 2 occasions however I asked for cash. That was when the waiting game began. The first claim was in January 08 and the other in March 08 so I should have received my cashback in March and May respectively.

After waiting for more than six months I tried the live help with no luck. She said sorry we can't process your claims as there is a back log. I warned her that I will take this matter further with Trading Standards and she basically told me to go ahead.

I sent a LBT as advised by many of the helpful MSErs here and not surprisingly 2 days later I received 2 emails saying that the claims have now been preocessed and I will get my money in 3-7 days. So this is definitely the way to go if you are kept waiting for your money. I wish everyone luck with getting their cashback. Cheers.

Well done. With you new experience any problems in the future with "dodgy" mobile operators you know LBA straight away - it saves a lot of time.

  • This is my third time around with Mobileshop.com.

They have never been good at paying cashback on time, but at least you didn't have to threaten legal actions. Now it's ridiculous. You actually have to send an LBA each time a payment is overdue, or you'll get nothing.

The last 2 contracts that I had through them have just expired, and I decided to switch to Virgin. I get more than enough minutes and texts for £10 a month, and that's fine for me. It saves so much hassle.

Sure, it's nice to get something for nothing, but that's just not the case with Mobileshop. You have to account for the time you spend dealing with them, which to me is worth more than £10 a month.
  • I've sent all 6 of my 18 Month contract cash back claims in to mobileshop on time. Over a month after the final claim, I haven't seen a penny.

Thanks to the advice on this thread, I'm sending my LBA off to them today.
  • Hi All,
Thank you to everyone on this post for their advice and relating their own personal experience, especially to those who has posted a copy of their LBA. I customised it for my own claim and I'm happy to say that I have now recvd emails from mobileshop today stating I'll be paid within 14 days. My oldest claim was almost 120 days!
Despite calling them, used live chat, and emails since August and even speaking to the manager on several occasions I have had no joy. As soon as they got my LBA last week then bingo! they decide to pay up!
This site is sooooo fantastic in helping consumers!
    Hooray for Martin & Co!
  • hi just found this link as i have been waiting for ages for my mobilshop.com cashback, my first claim was validly received by them in mid jan,

like everyone else, i keep on getting told via online chat or email that they are having "technical issues and are processing a backlog of claims manually" - yeah right

how do i resolve this, do i just have to send one of these LBA's - letters threatening legal action and then they will pay up??

    - also a few days ago as i was fed up I agreed to take a gift card for topman for the value of my first 2 claims. - IF (and thats a big if with this shower !) i receive these gift cards, will i still be within my rights to cliam the other 4 cashback parts outstanding in the threatening letter??

Won't use them again, but I have found the formula that takes the least time and that works is:-
Only complain about 2 at a time.
When it is a month or two overdue, send a quick polite email with the voucher no in the subject line
"It is now over 4 months since you confirmed receipt of the above numbered voucher. Please confirm when the payment for this and voucher xxxxxx will be made."

They will either promise action at some unspecified date, offer vouchers or ignore it.

About 3 weeks later, send an email with the voucher no in the subject line
" have now waited patiently for several more weeks for the payment I wrote to you about last month, and feel this is dragging on far too long.

Sadly I am forced to hereby give you notice that I intend to take out court proceedings against you if you do not pay the amount of the cash back claim above into my account within 14 days of this email, of which I have retained a copy. I would also draw your attention to claim xxxxxx.

14 days later they reply to say the money will hit your bank account within approx 7 days.

This exact wording has worked 3 times for me - no letters, no phone calls. The first time i went on about how disappointed we were having had good service from them previously and having written testimonials on the website, but the flannel makes no difference actually.

A lot quicker moobox is to send a LBA straight away letting them know that you know they are in breach of contract and know how to sort it (MCOL).

Anyway, cheque for final £60 arrived Tuesday and the end of a great relationship.:T
