Just been to Dunelm mill with a budget of a fiver and got a valance which matches my Tesco single quilt cover (Cath Kidston style) So Ican now turn the 2 into a double quilt cover. The valance was reduced from 23.99 to 3.99. I will soon have the sanctuary I desire and the whole rooms cost less than 20 pounds.

    What a clever idea!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Too hot, can't sleep! Yesterday's victory was gradually packing up the contents of my kitchen - 15 minutes at a time! Just two small cupboards to go, then it's finished! new kitchen units and appliances being delivered around 8am today - heaven knows exactly where they'll all go! Still, by the end of next week it should all be looking good!

Having managed to sell our house after three years of being on the market, found a house to rent so we did not lose the sale (not a real rental house just vacant property and neighbour doing us a favour)

Have been here nearly six weeks and desperate to find a house we love- just found a possible house that came on the market a couple of days ago and going to view it with DH and one of the DDs this afternoon.

I so want to be settled and feel "at home" again.

  • Congrats on passing the exams/selling the houses etc etc and all the other wonderful victories!
I like this thread because it always makes me:D

My victory today was making a decision to stop worrying about the state of the clutter in my disorganised home AND making the choice to work/declutter on one room each week instead running around wearing myself out achieving absolutely nothing!

I've got nothing to lose and a week's work at a time will make a big dent in each room;)

I saw a quote yesterday in a magazine and it made me think of the victory of the day

"Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory"

May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce:D

What a lovely thread, I'll make sure to read it every day as a mood lifter :)

Today's victories for me are cleaning our table-top oven which was smoking up our entire house due to the layer of goopy awfulness stuck to the bottom :eek:

Plus I count it as a personal victory that I've managed to grow my tiny little tomato plant sproutling which a girl from work gave me, and it's now getting to be quite some height :) It's the first plant which I've actually watered on a regular basis and managed to not kill within a week of it arriving in the house :o Hopefully it'll get some little flowers on it soon!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

Aaaah can you hear that ... total peace... Dd, Dh and grandson have just gone out. Think the 2 adults make more noise than the baby. I now have 2 hours of me time to have a shower then get my sowing machine out. This is a real luxury at the mo. Dd may be moving out very soon and I am now imagining getting my craft room back and uncovering the floor in my bedroom. Time to daydream is a victory!
